Looking to buy a decent set of darts

Anyone explain the differences between darts, % tungston, best flights and shafts etc to use, weight

Help appreciated

Its all down to individual preference. Trying out different formulas until you find the one that works best for you.

Probably best to steer clear of brass and go for tungsten. Brass darts are either too light or too big. A lot of people start off with brass darts and get used to the fatter barrell so find it hard to change to the skinnier tungsten.

Tungsten is a bit dearer, but worth it in my opinion. Price ranges from €10 to €30. And the darts, if you like them, will last for years - so not unreasonable.

The % tungesten doesnt really matter, so long as its 80% plus. The weight does matter, but again its down to individual preference, some like as light as 15g, others go for 30g+. Ideally it'd be wise to priactice with different sets of darts belonging to friends, but if you g for the middle range, say 22g to 26g, then you should be fine.

What type of dart is another hard question. Ideally you should go into a shop and hold a few of them and see what feels most comfortable. Unicorn are probably the leading brand, but there's probably not a whole lot of difference. I believe the Phil Taylor gold purist darts are the most popular, but there also one of the dearest, and the least hard wearing as the gold chips off. But people do get hooked on them as they keep buying them. Personally I got Unicorn John Lowe darts from Santy this year and am delighted with them.

There's a myriad of different flight shapes about. I think Argos has a good multi-pack with 5 or 6 different shapes that is worth getting. Shafts come in small, long and medium. Again its about experimenting and finding what works for you.
