But Paddy Power online has Derry 20/1 for the AllIreland, Eastwoods online has the same......Derry at 20/1

Eastwoods in Strabane however has Derry at 33/1..................................................

GAA Discussion / Tír Eoghain v Dún na nGall
March 18, 2008, 01:56:00 PM
Will be an interesting one this...........seems games between us have been tit-for-tat over this past few years.

We need to win this to stave off relegation, Donegal will be looking towards the League semis.

Lot of questions to be answered..........

1. With Mickey's huge endorsement of Davy in the papers today will Jordan - Ricey - Nephew be the HB line?
2. Will Justy get another go at FB?
3. Will McCaul finally get his chance?
4. Who will pick up McFadden (bearing in mind he gave Swift his biggeste roasting of the season in the McKenna)
5. Will Mugsy be fit?
6. How much more of Brian will we see?
7. Will Hub get back in?

Personally I'd like to see McCaul at FB and Justy at MF alongside Sean.

GAA Discussion / Stephen O'Neill rejoining Tyrone?
February 24, 2008, 04:00:10 PM
MH in today's NOTW suggesting that SON may come back once he's played a few untroubled club games and got over his injuries. Seems to think that SON just needs to regain his appetite and may rejoin later this summer...........................if only.........................

GAA Discussion / Speech
January 15, 2008, 08:55:17 AM
There was a spoof speech printed (in letters page I think?) of an early Gaelic life..............all blood and thunder about dying for the parish, blood being shed, bones broken etc etc with the payoff being it was delivered to the u-14 hurling team.

Does anyone remember it or have a copy of the article?

December 10, 2007, 01:34:12 AM

Not bad I guess.....a precursor to loyalty schemes maybe??????????

GAA Discussion / Will Sunday soccer affect the GAA?
November 28, 2007, 01:31:57 PM
From BBCNI website..............

Sunday ban expected to be lifted

Howard Wells is in favour of ending the Sunday football ban
The ban on Sunday football in Northern Ireland is likely to be lifted at an extraordinary general meeting of the Irish FA on Wednesday night.
IFA members voted 69 to 28 in favour of ending the ban last year, short of the 75% required to bring in a change.

Chief executive Howard Wells supports the abolition of the Sabbath ruling.

Reducing the Executive Committee of the IFA from 18 members to 10 and changes to other committees will also be on the agenda at the meeting.

The IFA is the only national association within Uefa to have a Sunday ban in place.

The sport's governing body in Northern Ireland wants to add the wording: "The association is neutral in matters of politics and religion and prohibits any kind of unlawful discrimination" to its articles.

Will be interesting to see where a lot of loyalties lie if fellas are asked to play soccer on a Sunday afternoon.

Odds from Paddy Power fro next year..........................some interesting value to be had.

Kerry                             6-4
Tyrone                          9-2
Dublin                            9-2
Cork                              8-1
Mayo                             14-1
Armagh                          16-1
Meath                            16-1
Donegal                          18-1
Galway                           20-1
Derry                             20-1
Laois                              28-1

So the big 4 now includes Cork at the expense of Armagh..........................

Derry at 20-1 look the dark horse bet of the year though

Well?????????????????

Personally I'd put MH back in place and failing that I'd have Brian McIver in

So............ no 'doirty' Northern teams in sight and the last Semi-final turns into one of the most unpleasant (first half) spectacles seen in years.

Nasty wee fouls off the ball....................yip
Goading players after missing scores...............yip
Goading players after scoring.........................yip
Blatant thuggery.......................yip
3rd man tackle all over the shop......................yip
Dropping the knees (Galvin special)............yip
Slaps to the face (hello Jayo).....................yip
Should have been at least 4 off.......................yip
A disgraceful example for kids watching the game...........yip

Typical ulster puke again.........................nope

Hopefully the Sunday game can call a spade a spade and slaughter these players for the way they carried on, especially in a farcical first half.Foir years we hear about the thuggish, dirty ulster teams - and what do we get today?

No douby Pat will gloss over all of this tonight in his usual whitewash fashion when the beloved are playing.

Funny how Ricey gets pilloried for slabbering to players yet Dublin and Kerry were at it all day long. Funny how Dooher and PtG were 'divers' yet Gooch did a fair swan lake holding his face today when he was caught round the middle
Funny how dropping the knees is a Northern sport yet Galvin is the master
Funny how there can be several 10 man brawls yet no red cards for Kerry or de dubs...........

Ref hadn't the balls to send someone off.........one can only hope Pat MCA is in for the final

Tyrone / Tyrone 2008
August 14, 2007, 01:54:38 PM
I guess the question now is what next for Tyrone in MH's final year (maybe)

Supposing we have SON, Dooher and McGuigan available we will be in reaonsably good shape however certaain issues / questions must be addressed:

1. We need a MF partner for Sean Cavanagh AND a reliable back up to come into his MF spot should we push him into the Half Forwards. To date we have found no-one. Barely a glimmer. Is there anyone at club level who can make the grade? Who knows. Alternatively we look at young McMahon and/or young Cavanagh as options

2. Ricey. No longer has the pace required for the modern day CB position. Will be an asset in the half back line. Who makes way - Nephew.

3. Full Back. Joe McMahon is the man for this. Needs a run of games there though.

4. McKenna Cup - should be about finding and blooding talent not tiring out / injuring the big guns. If we don't win it next year Mcikey we'll not be too disapointed.

5. PLan B - we need a different option in the forward line (could this be Rouse?).

GAA Discussion / Tyrone v Monaghan USFC Final
June 24, 2007, 05:16:47 PM
Well, well, well...................thought the script was set for a revenge crack at Derry in the final, obviously not.

Fair play to Monagahan, totally bossed the game and prob should have won by much more.

MH will need a different approach to this one. Monaghan have nothing to lose and with the forward players they have.................................a very interesting game lies ahead.

General discussion / For COD and Ulster

Based on the success and now international fame the For Cod and Ulster chip shop (with it's Besty burger and King Billy Family bucket for £16.90) has gained I was wondering what an equivalent chip shop up the falls could be named...................................

"Chippy ar la" maybe?????? - you could ask for (Community) Justchips..........

GAA Discussion / Greg Blaney at St Biddys???
June 11, 2007, 01:44:56 PM
Although I'm a bit out of touch with the Belfast scene - when did Greg, stalwart of Carryduff, Blaney switch allegiance to St Biddys?

Was the power of the Malone road too much to withstand or was the lure of Antrim football the big one?

I could see it if he moved away outta town but 2-3 miles away???
