I thought the Dublin hurlers were quite robotic v Waterford. They just don't seem to have enough 'natural' hurlers ie players able to create something from nothing.

They weren't able to punish Dublin from  out the field.

I've zipped through the game from start to finish on Sky+ for the purposes of my blog and can find three instances of Maurice Shanahan giving verbals or whatnot to Liam Rushe. Not once did he do it with anyone else. On two of those occasions Rushe gave as good as he got, including the bit which ended with him slapping Maurice in the head with his hurley. So if you were watching the telly and saw him goading Dublin players throughout the game, you're . . . wrong.

I'll send you my video. At least 5 I've counted and Gleeson throwing the sliotar in Mc Caffrey's face (wouldnt see an u10 do that). Not a dicky bird done to either.

Johnny Ryan applies a different set of rukes to Dublin for hurling games We were ridden rock solid yesterday in my opinion and as a group of fans we are hopping mad over it. Not the first time he's done it to us either.

3 65's not shown by the Sunday Game last night that were wides - all clearly viewable on the video. The sideline that led to the goal- again was a Dublin ball and clearly viewed to me and anyone else sitting in the stand. That's not good enough at this level

I also have a problem with the spare hand in tackling. Rushe was fouled 3 times by Waterford players illegally using their spare hand tackling yesterday and Here's Johnny gave 3 frees for overcarrying. Bizarre , bizarre stuff. And rank, rank, rank bad refereeing

No complaints that Waterford were the better side and deserved the win. But we'd have got a fairer deal of Dan Shanahan in the Crows Nest yesterday

In my opinion it's up to the Dublin County Board to ask the GAA to ensure he and his officials are not fixed to refereee any of our games again in the future until as such time as he can be deemed to apply the same set of rules to both teams and be consistent in his approach. There was no consistency yesterday. Absolutely none

We pay our money into watch games, our players train the same as anyone else's and the least they deserve is that the referee and officials are held accountable to the same standards as the players and management. That is not being unfair to anyone. It's right and proper at this level of elite competition.
The spare hand thing really annoys me.
Some teams gettig away with it for years.

Goading of opponents is just childish.
But a decent referee would reverse a free or dish out a yellow card to cut it out.

The sideline ball that Gleeson stuck over was unreal, but was clearly a Dublin ball in the first place. Linesman and referee not up with play. I hope the referee assessor saw that

Brolly called it 100% on Cork. They beat Kerry they are on the soft side of the draw and a QF v Westmeath/Fermanagh. They lose and they have 6 days to get their head together and have to Beat Kildare then Dublin then Mayo/Donegal(/Galway) and then more than likely Kerry are waiting for them again in the final. And all changed from a dodgy penalty!

This will seem very minor but the six day thing is really annoying me. Because it was seven days. Seeing six days everywhere. Seven. Seven. SEVEN.

Agree with the overall point though. Seasons hinge on tiny things.
The Munster final replay shouldn't have had a two break break.

Westmeath were shocking yesterday, once they went 5-2 up.
Fell apart

On the jerseys, the players were told 'if they had pride in their county' to put the jerseys back into the kit back. They were owed two months of mileage at the time and decided they would make sure they got something for their troubles. Not a hurling specific problem either, the U21 footballers helped themselves to the jerseys a couple of years ago when the promised training gear failed to materalise. And players keeping jerseys was also an issue after the senior footballers lost to Cavan last year too.

Croke Park have since come out and said they were removed from the B competition once they made the Leinster semi-final. Communication would not be a strong point of some of our underage committee members, one in particular. We do excel in clarification statements after the fact though.  ::)
are things usually referred to the CCCC and swept under the carpet to avoid further debate or embarrassment?

New departure alright. They managed to make liars out of themselves this time though.

According to Croke Park fixtures administrator Bernard Smith that when Westmeath qualified for the semi-final of the Leinster MHC with an historic win over Wexford on March 28, fixtures officials at Headquarters deemed the Lake County ineligible for the Minor 'B'. He said that earlier in the year, Westmeath were "provisionally" fixed to play Donegal in the quarter-finals of the Minor 'B'.

From the statement the County Committee released:

"To that extent, Westmeath GAA did not enter a Minor team in this year's B Championship and this matter was discussed thoroughly through County Management Committee and the decision communicated accordingly."

"Hence the question of us pulling out of a Championship that we did not enter is disingenuous and we are very disappointed with the manner in which this has arisen in the media through twitter today."
It's great to see them tripping up in their own media statements

Usually they contradict themselves in the one meeting!

I'd say Westmeath might have a new minor manager next year!
http://www.independent.ie/sport/gaelic-games/hurling/im-not-yet-equipped-for-telepathy-westmeath-minor-boss-reignites-missing-jersey-row-31394855.html

Jez,
the Grevilles are up for a fight, on and off the field.

Surely he'd have known before now whether they were entered into AI B championship as we knew we were in way back in May. The jersey thing is probably a throw away comment from some numpty irked that the lads swapped jerseys with their Dublin counterparts in the Leinster championship.
Westmeath county board have a track record in giving out about lads swapping jerseys and doing silly things, when it comes to hurling

they are also probably reeling from the fact their senior footballers have won a few games this year and so they are costing more than they normally would

What I hate is a player landing in with the knees on a player on the ground, trying to get up or bent over.

That should be a straight red.
Refs seem to ignore it.

Was John Tobin manager in 2001?

Yes, the Derry hotel incident pretty much ended his interest. That bell boy did so much damage to our county :'(, the guy that spilled the beans about the harmless antics in the hotel that is
Didn't a load of the Ros players later get apologies and financial settlements from that newspaper?

Chalk and Cheese
Apples and Oranges

does anybody believe Roscommon would have set up as naively v Mayo as Sligo did?
A Roscommon team with the spine of their team fit would give Mayo a good game.

I do. And I was in Mark park. Sligo much better than Ros and Sligo played the same yesterday. They actually managed a second goal against us. Ye lost since against Fermanagh who are no better than Sligo. If ye had doubled up on O Se yed have been cut open by the runners anyway. As I said already ye dodged a right shoeing. Sligo took one for ye.
I'm not from Roscommon
