If Mid Kerry beat Rahillys it will be Kilcummin who go onto the Munster Club, other wisae it who ever of Rahillts or Kilcummin finish higher.

The minors will be in for a tough battle , caught the end of the Tyrone minor win in the Ulster final , they looked impressive, fit and skilful even if they won only with the minimum to spare and a controversial point in the process, not a South Kerry man on that minor team which is dissapointing given their recent underage successes. Hard to know what to make of minors really, we left an All Ireland behind in Croker last year and were well beaten in the replay by the rossies.

What a result for the minors
Kerry 2-9 Tyrone 1-8
ESB All-Ireland MFC quarter-final

A VASTLY improved second half display earned Kerry their place in the semi-finals of the All-Ireland Minor Football Championship when they edged out Tyrone in a compelling quarter-final at O'Connor Park, Tullamore yesterday.

Trailing by 1-6 to 2-2 at half time and lucky to be that close, Kerry played with much greater cohesion and purpose in the second half.

Limiting the Ulster champions to a miserly two points, Kerry, beaten by Cork in the Munster final and on the receiving end of much critical analysis in the county, are well worth their place in the semi-finals.

With Timothy O'Sullivan and Barry John Walsh leading the line impressively in attack and Johnny Buckley and Wayne Guthrie dominating midfield, Kerry dominated play for long periods in the second half.

In a strangely lifeless first half, it was Tyrone who impressed as the better team. Kerry made a dream start with a JB Spillane goal after just 50 seconds, but Tyrone had the better of the remainder of the half.

Two super long range frees from Kyle Coney helped them to a 0-6 to 1-1 lead after 18 minutes and Kerry were beginning to panic. However, a Barry John Walsh free and an opportunist Colm O'Shea goal after a great inter-change with Timothy O'Sullivan steadied the ship and put Kerry 2-2 to 0-6 ahead after 24 minutes.

Back came Tyrone and a magnificent Paul McAleer goal in the 28th minute gave them a 1-6 to 2-2 interval lead which was the least they deserved.

Kerry played with much greater energy in the second and by the fourth minute they were 2-5 to 1-7 to the good.

By the time Tyrone's next point came courtesy of Coney in the 21st minute, Kerry had 2-8 on the board and were destined for the last four.

Tyrone did mount a late rally that saw Paul McAleer denied by 'keeper Tomás Mac an tSaoir and the losers' misery was compounded when Ronan McNabb was sent off in injury-time.

SCORERS - Kerry: BJ Walsh 0-4 (3f and 1 45), T O'Sullivan 0-3, JB Spillane and C O'Shea 1-0 each, J Buckley and E Kennedy 0-1 each. Tyrone: P McAleer 1-2 (1 f), K Coney 0-3 (2 f), P McNeice 0-2 (1f), P Hughes 0-1.

KERRY - T Mac an tSaoir; D O'Sullivan, B Shanahan, B Russell; I Somers, B O'Leary, P Costelloe; J Buckley, W Guthrie; M O Se, C O'Shea, JB Spillane; T O'Sullivan, BJ Walsh, E Kennedy. Subs: J Doolan for O Se (38m), C Tobin for O'Shea (49m).

TYRONE - M O'Neill; P Martin, A Girvan, R Pickering; C McRory, R McNabb, K Mossey; M McKenna, K Coney; S Curran, P McNeice, P Hughes; P McAleer, C Harkin, D McNulty. Subs: C O'Neill for D McNulty (36m), M Rodgers for S Curran (40m), S Dillon for K Mossey (44m), T O'Hagan for P Hughes (52m), P Harte for K Coney (57m).

Mid Kerry progressed to the last four of the Kerry SFC following a shock 0-15 to 1-7 replay victory over Kerins O'Rahillys in Killorglin on Sunday.

Mid Kerry will face four-in-a-row chasing South Kerry next Sunday for a place in the final against either Kilcummin and Feale Rangers, who fought out a 0-8 apiece draw at Austin Stack Park on Sunday. The replay has been fixed for next Saturday at the same venue (throw-in 4pm).

Despite being without key players Kevin O'Brien, Adrian O'Connor, Joe McGillicuddy and Liam Sheehan, Mid Kerry finished strongly to overcome a disappointing O'Rahillys outfit. A Mark O'Sullivan goal helped the Tralee side into a 1-3 to 0-3 lead after 20 minutes and they led by 1-4 to 0-4 at the break.
But the divisional side resumed impressively and points from Kieran Foley, Raymond O'Connor and Darren O'Sullivan gave them a 0-9 to 1-4 lead. The issue remained in doubt until a late flurry of points, including a fisted effort from county star Sean O'Sullivan, saw Mid Kerry safely through.

In the first of this year's semi-finals, substitute Paul O'Donoghue scored a late point to earn Kilcummin a draw with Feale Rangers. Irrespective of what happens from here on, Kilcummin will be Kerry's representatives in the Munster club championship as they are the only club side left standing in the SFC.

Some Houdini act by John Mitchels again to avoid the cull to intermediate level.

same madness year in year out whenever kerry make it tro to sept., no game for weeks and now mid kerry have '2 in a row'. no doubt s kerry would finish them off anyway but that not the point. hopefully kilcummin will do well in the club championship, they knocked out an gaeltacht a few years back and they went all the way to the final so fingers crossed..

South Kerry book final spot
22 October 2007

South Kerry remain on course for a four-in-a-row of Kerry SFC titles following their emphatic 1-18 to 0-5 victory over Mid Kerry in a surprisingly one-sided semi-final second replay at Fitzgerald Stadium.

The champions brought Maurice Fitzgerald out of retirement for this game but, as it turned out, they didn't need him to come on as it was over as a contest from an early stage. After this performance, South Kerry will be hotly fancied to account for another divisional side, Feale Rangers, in the county final on November 11.

The writing was on the wall for Mid Kerry from the second minute when Bryan Sheehan scored a brilliant goal, and it was all one-way traffic after that.

With All-Star Declan O'Sullivan to the fore, South Kerry went on to lead by 1-6 to 0-3 at the break and the second half proved to be procession as they outscored their opponents by 0-11 to 0-1. Paddy Curran scoring 6 points.

South ease into Kingdom decider

THERE was no need for any Maurice Fitzgerald heroics as reigning Kerry county senior football champions, South Kerry, made light work of Mid Kerry in a one-sided semi-final second replay in Fitzgerald Stadium, Killarney yesterday.

All the talk in the build-up to the game was the return of former Kerry great, Fitzgerald, but South Kerry didn't need their shining light to come on as this game was over from very early on.

Now they are short odds to win four in-a-row.

The writing was on the wall from the second minute when Bryan Sheehan rattled home a super goal, and it was all one-way traffic after that.

With Kerry skipper, Declan O'Sullivan, to the fore early on, South bossed the play and they led 1-3 to 0-2 after just eight minutes of what was high quality fare. The winners led 1-6 to 0-3 at the break.

South winners outscored their opponents 0-11 to 0-1 for the rest of the game on their way into the county final where they will face Feale Rangers on Sunday, November 11.

SCORERS -- South Kerry: B Sheehan 1-3 (3f), P Curran 0-6, R O'Connor 0-4, R Hussey 0-3 (1f), Declan O'Sullivan, A O'Sullivan 0-1 each.

Mid Kerry: D Walsh, R O'Connor, A O'Connor, R McGrath, S O'Sullivan (f) 0-1.

Its the Kerry Senior Championship final this Sunday between 4 in a row chasing South Kerry and Feale Rangers.

Although a month behind schedule, because of the replays in the two semi-finals, Feale Rangers and South Kerry are all set for their big day on this Sunday at 2.45 p.m. at Austin Stack Park, Tralee in the final of the AIB County Senior Football Championship.

The curtain raiser to the Senior County Final is the replay of the County Under 16 Interdivisional Football Championship Final between South Kerry and Mid Kerry. The drawn game was a great game of football between two very well prepared teams and the replay should provide another thrilling game.

The reigning champions of the last three years, South Kerry and their challengers, Feale Rangers take centre stage on County Final Day.  Feale Rangers will relish the challenge against the reigning County Champions, South Kerry for The Bishop Moynihan Cup. This year's Feale Rangers team will hope to go one better than they did in the 1999 final when East Kerry narrowly beat them by just a single point. On their way to Sunday's final they were, believe it or not, beaten by Mid Kerry, in the opening round but in Round 2 they accounted for St. Kieran's. They had a narrow win against Ardfert in Round 3 and in the quarterfinal they put on a great display when they narrowly accounted for the highly fancied An Ghaeltacht. They beat Kilcummin in the semi-final after a replay.

Having achieved the elusive three in a row last year South Kerry this year are aiming to get closer to the record five in a row held by John Mitchels. In this year's championship South Kerry defeated Dingle in their opening game before going on to beat Dr. Crokes in the quarterfinal, a game which was a repeat of the final of the previous two years.  Then disaster almost struck when they held out against Mid Kerry in their well-recorded trilogy of games in the semi-final.  The second semi-final replay saw their form return with a blistering display, which has set them up as strong favourites to retain their title on Sunday.

Both teams have a wealth of talent and they have a very good blend of young and very experienced players. It should be a very keenly contested final in that respect. Both are teams eager to do themselves justice on the day.

South Kerry are led by Declan O'Sullivan, Bryan Sheehan and Killian Young and also have the county panalists Ronan Hussey in thier ranks, while county trainer John Sugrue will man midfield, and former Kerry Stars Denis Dwyer and Ronan O'Connor and new buck Paddy Curran also to call on while there is a young fellow called Maurice Fitzgerald back in training, and what a sub to call on.

Feale Rangers too have plenty of experience to call on with Paul Galvin and former county men Eamon Fitzmaurice, Noel Kennelly, Brendan Guiney and Brian Scanlon all leading great experience to tough side.

With the winners not going through to the Munster Club Championship there is just the small matter of the Kerry captain also resting on the outcome of this final. If South kerry win will it be Declan O'Sullivan or Bryan Sheehan to lead kerry in their 3-in-a-row bid next year that would not be know until the South Kerry Championship is completed however or if Feale Rangers win Paul Galvin will have the honour in 2008.

With Galvin and Eamonn Fitzmaurice already after winning  county senior Hurling Championship medals this year with Lixnaw it would make a unique achievement if they pull off the football and hurling double.

Here hoping Declan and co produce the goods on Sunday and it would be great if the legend that is Maurice Fitzgerald sees a bit of action in the game too.

feale rangers 1-4 south Kerry 0-6.

a tough tense affair with little enough flowing football led to a low scoring game. in fairness to s kerry they never got going today (1-18 a few weeks ago) but lady luck was not on their side either -  hit the post 3 times and in the closing minutes bryan sheehan had a 45 to level it up but it was not to be. i felt really sorry for sheehan as i'm sure he'd love a chance to captain kerry, hopefully his day will come again soon. thought kieran quirke and declan griffin did best for fr paul galvin was quite enough while enda galvin had plenty ball but did not always use it wisely. great crowd on the historic day as it may well be the last county final in the old ground and also probably the last time maurice fitz plays. 6 feale ranger players also won county hurling medals with lixnaw which is some achievement. galvin won the ai medal and football/hurling county medals which was last done by john culloty in 1969...
