Hanging your hat on future provincial championships wouldn't be very wise I don't think.

But, yeah, the "don't back down, double down" strategy has been a roaring success so I don't see any reason to change tack.

Quote from: Harold Disgracey on April 24, 2024, 11:02:09 PMYou will have noticed that the LVF were generally unable to carry out any attacks in the Garvaghy Road and Tunnel areas of Portadown. They did once try to shoot up the Tír na nÓg clubhouse one night but apparently the gunman was shaking so much he missed the building. Billy Wright and his cohorts were very much protected and enabled by the RUC, everyone in Portadown was aware of this hence the RUC couldn't guarantee easy access and exit from any of the nationalist areas of town. As an aside Robert Hamill's mother died this week without seeing any justice for her son's murder.

Wasn't aware of the Portadown situation, but thinking back on it there was genuine fear of the LVF across the catholic community. Watching King Rat and his cohorts patrol the crowds at Garvaghy always sent chills. There was that feeling that they could and would do what they wanted. Pure evil.
I know Wright eventually finished up in prison, but I can't remember what the charge was.
His killing in prison, also feels like it could have had a level of facilitating about it - perhaps to keep him quiet?
Happy enough with the outcome of that facilitation. Crip died young but he performed an important task.
One rat killing another.

The last couple of pages would make your head hurt.
Give the prize to this fella.

He's hardly doing it off his own bat. Management need questioned on that.

Catch yourself on, complete clown even a dog wouldn't get burned twice in the same fire.
If you believe that isn't happening under instruction then it is you that needs to catch yourself on.

Quote from: Armagh18 on April 20, 2024, 07:26:47 PMGoal scoring opportunity so once its inside 21 its a pen. Thought it should be black under new rule?

David all about me Gough has to give a black card for something after.
No. It must be a black card offence which denies a goal scoring opportunity.

It wasn't a black card offence.

Black card wasn't given. Gough thought it was inside.

Quote from: screenexile on April 20, 2024, 07:24:12 PMThat was outside!!

Goal scoring opportunity doesn't have to be inside.  3-8 to 0-10
Has to be a black card offence for that.

If they stay committed and a few come back from injury then another good run in the Tailteann and a big day in Croke Park is still there.
Both teams are a world away from the top level.

You know Antrim are Div3 and needed to win last game to stay up?
??

Odd reply to that post?

Quote from: bannside on April 12, 2024, 06:24:29 AMWhat about Handball lol? Or Rounders?

The recent results at Minor or under 20 level are alarming, and yet another wake up call that the gap is widening between the traditionally strongfootball counties and the rest.

As Saffs of 82 says, maybe we are Div 3 across the board, at all levels....in which case we are going to take some hammerings against top Div 1 sides.

We are a fairly prudent bunch here, no one thinks we are able to compete at the top tables. But surely we can aspire to get to the second division across the board and continue organic growth from there.

If all relevant parties (clubs in particular but also schools and co development squads) could find 10% extra from somewhere, and another 10% on top of that the following year, we would be on a much better footing.

That's a lot of buy in required - and some group/body/committee needs to start selling that soon!

Has Gaelfast made no difference then?

You know Antrim has (in football) been rubbish since the 50's?

Will take more than Gaelfast to reverse our fortunes

Would be some turnaround in 4 or 5 years to have us competing with the likes of Tyrone
2009 Ulster Final wasnt rubbish
Was a fantastic year for us.

Unfortunately we have only won 1 Ulster championship game since.

Every now & again we have an occupation dick measuring competition on this board.
Such & such wouldn't last in my job or our sector is only for competent people etc etc.
People basically justifying their existence by running some other hoor into the ground.

Then we get small insights into the fine detail of these jobs like the conversation above.
Christ above....
