Cork 2-18 Waterford 0-7 FT

Final should be a bit more competitive given Cork and Clare put up identical scores against Waterford and what they both conceded wasn't too dissimilar.

We are coming into this year in as strong and we'll prepared position as I can remember us coming into a league campaign. Still we've a very tough opening two matches and that'll tell us which end of the table we'll be looking at. We've been traditionally poor in the league and played well in short spells in games, that's something we need to improve on.

Cork keeper apparently gifted Clare at least 1 goal if not 2.

Also for games at this time of year, looking at the lineups is key. Lot of unfamiliar names in the starting Cork team and in the Clare team too.

No surprise to see Cork win it late on when they bring subs of the quality of John O'Rourke, Ian Maguire, Sean Powter and Ruairi Deane after the 50th minute.

You think Kerry use this competition to play a number of new players instead of playing near full strength. Not going to find too many new players this, way and they need to find 2/3 defenders, 1 midfielder and at least another forward.

They had 5 players make their intercounty debut (3 starting) in this game.
Out of the 15 that started, I would say only 3 are definite starters - the 2 Cliffords and Tom O'Sullivan.
There was only 1 definite stater in the 8 subs - Sean O'Shea.
Thats 4 definite starters out of 23 players.
None of the other 19 are definite starters when fit especially under a new manager.

Limerick had I think 9 players making their intercounty debut.

Fairly inexperienced looking Cork side named.
Joe Grimes is a Kerryman - a guard from Listowel who is stationed in Clonakilty.

My feeling loking at those two lineups is that Clare at 7/4 might represent a bit of value.
Not big stakes but my feeling is Collins is a superior manager to Ricken.

Penalty shoot out coming up now. Cork 4-3 winners of that shootout.
