General discussion / Re: Premier League 2023-2024

Quote from: From the Bunker on January 14, 2024, 12:30:03 AMCity had an intense season winning the treble last year, the annoyance of the European Super Cup and World Club Cup this season. When they get their bearings in the next few weeks they'll be a force to be reckoned with. feck me, they've been struggling and they're only two points behind an on fire Liverpool at the top of the table.

They have the players, the squad, the manager, the money.

This fella on ignore lists already and I'm late to the party?

Quote from: HiMucker on January 14, 2024, 06:15:56 PMFolks got the wee men tickets for Luton game Sat 24th Feb. Problem is if Liverpool get to the final of the league cup which is looking likely, the fixture will be moved to I'd imagine a near definite mid week day later in the season. Would any of yous have an idea from past experience of when that likely would be? Just to get an idea for flights and that.

First midweek gap assuming they get through in FA cup and Europa League is around 23rd - 25th of April.

I think the rule is that fans get 6 weeks notice for a rearranged game.

Maghera don't score for 29 minutes. Paul Hughes and Chrissy McKaigue masterclass.

UAE trips and money go a long way in the PL. City will stroll to another title with officials' help.

Another shocking referee and VAR performance today.

VAR was none other than Mr Simon Hooper who was ref during liverpool's only PL defeat this season.

Tierney's expression for the first disallowed goal was full of arrogance.

A complete miracle they're top of the league with some of the decisions this year.

Biased incompetent clowns.

Quote from: SHEEDY on November 14, 2023, 05:45:38 PMWhy would it be the end for Kilcoo? May as well ask is it the end for Crossmaglen. An Ulster championship is always hard won, getting beat by Scotstown is no disgrace. They'll be team to beat in Down again next year.
There are 7 county team players  plus captain and motm Donal Morgan in the Scotstown team.

I thought the ref did well in a heated encounter, despite awarding a soft penalty and a late soft free to Kilcoo to put them a point ahead. but somewhat balanced to a very small degree by the soft free awarded for a bit of a pullback on K Hughes, however  that was about 55m out near the sideline.

That was an easy penalty to give, the lad that came in at the end was the culprit
Darren Hughes it was, from what I saw  Darren was almost stationary when the Kilcoo  player ran into Darren's partially outstretched arm and on auto pilot hit the grass in agony. There was a obstruction foul in the build up which the ref later correctly gave a yellow to the Scotstown player (Caulfield), I think that foul where the ref played advantage affected his penalty call judgement.
In the last play not even Kieran Hughes thought he was fouled, after easily breaking free he raised his arm (in error) for a mark that wasn't a mark, the linesman came over to him  grinning and hand gestured to Kieran to relax, that it was a free and to put the ball down.

Stonewall pen. Needless over aggression from hughes.

There was no mark, he knew for certain it was a free and wanted beggan to hit it. I think the linesman was smiling as he was trying to steal yards.

Quote from: trailer on November 07, 2023, 08:23:16 AMRefreshing from Ange but he can't have much to complain about. Two guys sent off for stupid tackles.

Can't wait for Statement fc to play Replay fc. Papers will need to bring out special supplements to print all the shite those two managers come out with.

The term "Derry Underage Star" used very loosely in the articles I seen.

Decent club player and played in a very good st pat's maghera team who didn't get to play their MacRory final due to covid but was never a star in Red and White.

A really good minor hurling final on saturday past.

Screen 3-4 to 0-2 up after 20 mins.

Lavey with as good a comeback as you'll see to win by a point. 2-15 to 4-8.

Magherafelt brought on a young sub with a bit of flair who wanted to attack and it won them the game.

Decent football being coached out of young lads now. Very few forward passes with foot.

Any notable players on either side who could break into senior next year? Magherafelt seem to have a great conveyer belt at the moment and god knows lavey could do with a lift

I'm sure sargent will play senior next year. Maybe Higgins or Spiers. Mulholland for lavey looks a decent player too. But these lads will all be minor next year with the change back to u18.

Quote from: Estimator on October 16, 2023, 11:47:01 AMWas at a minor championship semi final yesterday and the ref issued a black card, the corner back made his way to the bench, only for the linesman to instruct the ref that the challenge wasn't actually a black card offence. Ref called the player back from the bench, cancelled the black card and given a yellow card instead.
The linesman had to intervene a few times throughout the match to assist the ref with his decisions.

yes has been around for some time.

Estimator, what else happened during the game where linesman intervened?
Honest question, i was there as a neutral. Great game, some of the points in the 2nd half were of top quality.

do you want to hear about the black card changed to yellow in the minor semi yesterday after a spectating referee reminded the ref of the rule?
