What about strength and conditioning? That has been going well but still needs work so could do with a good person there.

Good to see some of those boys involved and hopefully good learning too for future coaching careers.

Think the feeling this morning is one of being underwhelmed.

While most of us expected this announcement still doesn't stop that feeling.

I agree but we are probably over analysing it, unless there is a Kinnerk figure there it's going to be Davys way or no way.
Let no-one say the best hurlers belong to the past. They are with us now, and better yet to come

Quote from: johnnycool on August 28, 2024, 04:02:09 PMIs there any clubs in Antrim would have floodlights suitable for hurling?

They're pretty scarce around the country IMO.

Tír na nÓg, Randalstown have floodlights as well.

I'd imagine the S&C will continue with is it Murphy? Does he look after Hurlers and Footballers?

Experienced coaches, who have been involved with teams previously.

But here as has been suggested it's Davy's show at the end of the day, just the optics for me are not great.

I didn't know what to expect tbh. It's still a lottery of an appointment - could be best thing ever or worst thing ever. Neither would be a surprise.

The thing is, this was exactly expected.

But as you say nothing would surprise us from here in.

Quote from: Saffrongael on August 28, 2024, 10:56:29 PMLooks like Davy said to Tony Shivers "get me a few Antrim men"

Or Tony said to Davy I've got you a few Antrim men.

I'm a bit concerned with the quality we've been able to put forward, no doubting their playing quality and they have club & county U20 experience but this could just highlight the lack of quality and number of high level coaches within the county.

I wish them all the best and hope my reservations are proven incorrect.

Hopefully it all works out ok, I think it should. As I see it Davy, is a top manager and he's now with us. He has brought Bennett from Waterford in who seems to have been around with him a few years now with various teams so he'll be fine and know his stuff. McManus will have that connection with the panel and he's a leader to be fair to him. When he trained and played he gave his all - so he'll instill that in the group and the group will respect him. I think he'll be a very good addition actually. Graffin and Shivers both involved with the county U20s recently and have that connection with the players also. If anything I think it's a good mix they have and the Antrim guys in the backroom team will learn greatly from this also which will be valuable in the future. They'll be others maybe who will remain in the background like noted above re S&C coach etc.Like most intercounty set ups now the numbers in the backroom set up seem to be getting bigger. I hope over the next few months a good panel can come together now and give it a real lash and buy into it. Who knows where it could lead. Davy wont have a magic wand so it will take serious effort from everyone. But all in all, it should be fine - fingers crossed lol

Hope his cars electric lol!

What are the tiebreakers in the Hurling championship with regards to more than two teams levels on points? Could possibly be needed in both intermediate groups.  Is it the team with the best point difference overall or the best point difference between the teams involved?

Think it's overall, I remember an instance a couple of years ago Carey had to win a game v Gort Na Mona by 25+ points and won it by about 60
