It's looking like Div1 is sorted, Rossa winners, Ballycran relegated with Glenariffe promoted.

We tailed off badly in the last two games, serious work needing done to pick it up for championship with Portaferry going in as odds on favourites even if they didn't pull up many trees in the league.

Davy Fitz

Wee Davy gives his breakdown on the Cork demolition of Dublin and where Dublin went wrong.

I'd agree with him on most of it as the Dublin half backs were caught in limbo as they never pushed up on the Cork half forwards who were roaming around midfield picking up an abundance of loose ball and able to pick out their FF line as the very same Dublin half backs weren't covering back enough in front of their fullback line leaving them badly exposed.

you either stay deep to cover that space to prevent the ball going into those spaces but allow yourselves to be outnumbered in midfield where Cork can take long range points and kill you off that way or you follow them out the field and make that area an absolute battleground and be extremely physical in there to put the Cork halfbacks and midfield on their arses and not allow them the time and space to get the running game going or to get quality ball into their full forward line.

Clare did it last year, backed their corner backs in particular to do a job on their respective markers and hope your midfielders can punch holes in the Cork defence which the Dublin lads were able to do even with the scraps they were working from.
The problem was they were leaking heavily at the back.

Will Tipp push out on the Cork half forwards and maybe keep Connolly back in around the house and allow Maher the freer role???

Much to ponder for Liam Cahill going into next Sunday week.

Browsing through the terrestrial channels the other night and stumbled upon the start of the much vaunted classic, The Wicker Man, the 1973 original with Edward Woodward and a young ,nubile Brit Ekland, so I thought I'd give it a go and see what the fuss was about as I'd never watched it in its entirety before.

I was slow paced, and TBH weird as fúck for big parts of it with all the hedonism, paganism etc going on and the confusion around the "missing girl" soon to be sacrificed to the god of the sun on May day, but strangely kept you involved until the big switcheroo at the end.

I'd say it was a decent story well told and captured on film, maybe hasn't stood the test of time in lots of aspects but a worthwhile watch all the same.

Is there any other old classics out there worth viewing now?

The difference in both conflicts is that the West is actually involved in supporting, providing surveillance, funding and giving political cover to one genocide and in the other with the US worse than ambivalent to the plight of Ukraine the rest as incapable of making any material difference to help Ukraine.

Bottom line, if you want to break international law you either need to be American or have the Americans in your back pocket.

Asbestos, Risk to power lines,  hospitals nearby.... but go ahead,  light your bonfire.

The north really is  a retarded cesspit run by  a shower  of useless  pricks

A joke.

You go and try to gather up bushes in a field and burn them - never mention the tyres etc. and council will be down on you like a ton of bricks.

Wouldn't be tolerated anywhere else in Europe.

I presume this is a relatively new bonfire site considering the substation wasn't built yesterday.

Is there a UVF boney and a new UDA boney close to each other here?

Quote from: DaleCooper on July 08, 2025, 07:43:36 PMIsraelis have long laid plans waiting for right excuse to allow them to justify what they are doing and what they are going to do.

October 7th was that excuse.

Oct 7 was but bombing Iran achieved nothing. Even in Gaza Israel has no plan for the day after. Bombing the shit out of a place is easy
Managing people afterwards is the hard bit.

The way they're going and assisted by the axis of evil in the West there won't be any people to manage anyway.

He'd a mouth like an open sewer and was well capable of the odd dirty action but somehow was very quiet in Gaelic Park when he couldn't resist the lure of the Tipp dollars to get him out.

Like a wee angel out there.

Of that era the Viking Bonner was 'hard' but Johnny Leahy was 'dirty'.

Takes a bit of everything to get over the line.

Do Cork and Tipp have a home and away arrangement?

Going by last years crowds following Tipp it would be all Cork yet again in Thurles.

They're trying to pin it on one of the umpires who reached up to catch the ball off the net from the wide shot...

Utter pish as even at a decent club game nowadays you need to raise the white flag for every point.

I'd presume the sideline official also keeps the score along with the referee nowadays, so, is it them who keeps the scoreboard and RTE correct?

Well done Tipp.

They brought a serious goal threat after all and for the first 10 minutes the tactics of lumping high ball in on top of the Kilkenny defence wasn't reaping much reward but they persisted and got their reward.

Young Mccarthy will be a serious operator if he cuts out the shite.

Both yellows were warranted and so needless as both Deegan and Murphy were passed him when he slapped out.

Deegan can consider himself very lucky to not get pulled for the helmet slap on the sideline and hapless Mikey Carey took the yellow for nothing.

Some goal to win the game all the same.
Surrounded by defenders yet still managed to get good power and accuracy on the shot.

Quote from: Bord na Mona man on July 05, 2025, 10:08:02 PMThe scoreline exaggerates the difference between the sides. Dublin did ok if a lot of parts of the game. Conceding goals every few minutes punctures a team's morale and eventually they lose the will to keep chasing.

Cork isolated the Dublin full back line and rained down a lot of quick and early ball in there. The interplay of the Cork FF was excellent too. Maybe Dublin should have got a sweeper back there earlier to shore up the FB line, but no team expects to concede 7 in an AISF and then suddenly it happens.

In fairness to Ó'Ceallacháin and the Dublin management, they went for it. Didn't go with sweeper so fair play to them. They knew the ball over top in front of that Cork ff line would create goal chances....and it certainly did!

But I admire Dublin for that - easiest thing would be to park the bus and sit back etc. Dublin actually played well. Cork were just different class today. Goals win matches. Ferghal Whiteley hit the bar at a crucial stage in first half but then Cork pushed on until half-time. Would have been interesting to see what would have happened if that shot had had hit the net.

It's all on the day. Like Dublin today, after coming off a high of the Limerick game in Croke Park, Cork will be in the same boat V Tipp/KK in 2 weeks.

Looking forward to see Tipp V KK. Hopefully be a cracker.

Dublin IMO got it wrong along the sideline.  They dropped off the Cork half back line allowing them to put the ball on a plate for their forwards who made serious hay.  Thought the yellows for the two Dublin lads were harsh and changed their attitude to full blooded tackling.
Clare showed how to get about this Cork team by not giving them an inch all over the park.  Teams that drop off against Cork get punished.
Dublin made an awful lot of unforced errors themselves and didn't give big Hetherington much to work with.

Fair play to Cork, they know how to rack up big scores and will be confident of picking up Liam in a few weeks time.

Now for the silver medal game   ;)

And to think we all thought he was nicknamed "The Dodger" due to his nifty footwork on the pitch.

Those Lads around Gowran knew better.
