GAA President Larry McCarthy has added his voice to the criticism of those who harshly criticize players.  I agree that a lot of the abuse has been over the top and excessive, what's the general feeling out there on this subject?

I see Mickey Harte's Louth lost to Antrim and we play them in a big game this weekend in Belfast. Carlow with an easy win in the South Division.

Hoping for a win on Sunday.

Well what can I say.  I'm fairly sure we will win a few games in 2020 unlike last year.  We are missing a few top players this year but hopefully will be in with a chance of promotion.  Crucial to get an away win in London to get the ball rolling.  Galvin seems to be making waves and enemies in Wexford so that should be interesting.  I have no idea how this division will play out, it's uncharted waters for us but I am hoping it will be a short visit.  4 away games does not help.

Another PR disaster waiting to happen after this incident in Donegal.  It's time to move out of the dark ages and become more flexible especially when it can help someone who is ill and has donated countless hours to their club. I understand that rules are rules but we are not living in the 1960's and our rules and MANIFESTO😉😉 should be more in tune the reality of modern day society.

Seems a bit steep to me especially for lower division games.  Having said that at least league games are competitive.  Prices going up and entertainment value going down is not a good combination in my opinion.

I've put up some suggestions on how to attempt to improve the debacle that Gaelic football has become.  Vote for your favourites proposal and list the changes you agree with in order and those you agree with in order.

Thought a poll might be a good idea considering the press this is getting.

I was just reading the many complaints about the 65's in the hurling yesterday, earlier on I read about players upset at games being played yesterday, more whining about the weather, the backlog,  etc..
Many of the people complaining about the format would also complain about having a replay, player burnout etc..

I'm wondering are we turning soft and becoming a group who like to complain no matter what.  Loads of other examples out there.  Has the average gaa player and supporter lost the plot?  Have we become a showerof whingers?

Very interesting and depressing Article by Manus Boyle.  2 points scored in the second half of last weeks Donegal SFC Final.  Happening all over the country.

I hope the game evolves to eliminate the effectiveness of the blanket, if it doesn't people will stop going to games or some rule changes will be required.

I know this area has been covered before, but Manus is bang on I'm my opinion except I don't think he could play as well as he thinks he could.

Great to see these great gaa men and their backroom teams who spend countless hours traveling, strategizing, training, planning and suffering the wrath of many fickle fans come good and have many posters here back tracking on some of the unwarranted criticism they have unleashed on them.

They both have had to endure too much abuse imo and fair play to them, I think their players have reacted to the abuse and stepped it up.  Personally I hope they both win next week because it's no more than they deserve.

I honestly think it's time to give this another thought.  The reality is that the All-Ireland will probably be won by one of four teams.  For the rest of us it's just a matter of how far we can go.  It's not if but when we will be beaten.  I have to admit I was no big fan of the Tommy Murphy cup but I'm beginning to think that once division 3 and 4 teams are beaten, (before a certain date) they should play in a b championship with the winners and runners up rejoining the championship at the quarter final stages (or the runner up joining one stage earlier).  It's time for the tortoises to stop running against the hares.

I know a lot of the managers are not a big fan of this but I think in time they might warm to it.  The chance to be competitive and win something could eventually swing the pendelum.

Just watching the Tipp hurling manager Michael Ryan giving an interview and sure enough "shur ah look you know" and "well I suppose" both surfaced in the first twenty seconds.

What other interview standards are out there - massive underdogs is one I hear in Sligo a lot...

Interesting. Article in the times on the plight of the club players.  Inter county seems to rule the roost which is completely unfair to the 95% that don't get to play at the county level.

I'm sure there are many of us with similar stories that we might want to share.

This should be a big event for the promotion of Gaelic games.  Great to see that there is a native born competition for non- irish born players.  I know a few of the New York team and they will be fairly handy in both men and women.

Great to see Oman down in Sligo yesterday.  Looking forward to following this.  Any interest in this from the home crowd?

I was really looking forward to the Euros but most of the games have been rubbish.  Most of the goals have been in the last few minutes.  Ireland had a good showing but only scored 3 goals in four games which is one goal every two hours.  I'm watching Poland and Portugal at the moment and I'm falling asleep with boredom.  I used to be a big Arsenal fan but honestly find it hard to watch live soccer any more due to diving and lack of goals and lack of enjoyment.

Time to change the offside rule or abandon it.  Most of the action seems to be coming from the fans in the stands.  Never thought I would say this but I would much prefer to watch rugby.

Haven't heard much about this to be honest but I know we play Roscommon on Saturday and the winners play 4 days later.  I saw Roscommon hammer us back in March when we were without the summerhill lads.  I know we have some good players and should be able to give Roscommon a good test.  I assume it's Mayo and Leitrim in the semis.
Has anyone watched any challenges or have any news or predictions for this competition?  Personally I think it should be played on a league basis with the top two teams going to the final as one and done is unfair given the amount of time spent preparing for this, or else a backdoor system like the senior teams.

In the last 10 years Irishmen have won 9 majors (Harrington 3 mcilroy 4 Clarke and McDowell one each.  Now Shane Lowry is leading the US open by four shots going into the final round.  By my calculations that would make 10 majors in 10 years from an island of 5million should Lowry hang on to the lead.

Compare that to England with 12 times the population with only one English born winner in the same period i.e Danny Willet.  Before ye start, Justin rose was born in South Africa.

I think we will do well to survive this year.  Very poor fbd showing and with brehony, Kelly, Donovan, marren and Martyn out we could be in big trouble.  I would think Kildare and either Westmeath or Tipp would be favourites for promotion with ourselves Offaly and limerick fighting for survival.  Longford looking good early on but that could change.
Sometimes we do better when least expected so let's hope this is one of those years.

I decided to open a new thread for this game as the Connacht championship one had "gone off track" to say the least.

Roscommon are obviously big favourites and deservedly so.  A div 1 team against a middle of the table div 3 team.

Sligo play best when massive underdogs and I wouldn't be surprised if we gave Ros a good run for their money.  Any news on challenges, injuries etc..

If we can hold our own at midfield we could do okay, can/will Murphy and Brehony get enough posession if that is who we pick?

Looking forward to this game, it could be a good game and much closer than people might think.

Just finished watching the second half of the Donegal v Tyrone game and it was like watching WWF mixed with a bad rugby game.  People shouldn't have to pay 20 or 30 euro to watch that Shyte.  If the GAA won't change the rules and the managers won't change the tactics, then I am very afraid for the future of what was once a great game to play and to watch.
For the first time in my life I'm getting fed up of football, it's becoming unwatchable with players handpassing the ball all over the field and 15 men behind the ball.  It's very hard to watch and I'm sure I'm not the only one getting turned off.

How do we send a message to the GAA and the managers that we are fed up of this nonsense? We need to fix it before it's too late.  I think we (the fans) should send a clear message by boycotting one game completely.  The Armagh v donegal game would probably be a good One As I expect to see a replay of today.  The best way to send a message is to hit them financially.....
