Chris would have the more impressive coaching record in comparison to Clancy to be fair.

Could never understand how he wasn't given a crack at the minor job, given he has been coaching minor aged players for years in Knockbeg, and doing fairly well at it. You'd have to imagine in any other county if there was an ex player coaching at colleges 'A' standard for years they would be brought into the minor or underage setup in some form.

Yeah, would agree with much of what was said above. It was a tough gig to come in after Cheddar, given Cheddar didn't really want to go, but he handled it fairly well.

I think the benefit of having a new man come in was that he wasn't afraid to try things that Cheddar might not have done. Leigh Bergin moving to full-back and King out to midfield might not have happened under Cheddar, but they both worked out really well. Cha to centre back was more controversial, but he did provide a bit of physicality there and you could see why he did it.

I hope he can persuade Cahir and Matthew Whelan to give it another year, because Matthew has a huge amount of service put in already, and Healy has said in the past he'd like to go back and play football. I think the panel needs the two of them there for another year at least, so hopefully they can stay with it.

When you look back at the Carlow game, we had no Cha or Willie Dunphy, King got sent off early, Palmer was off at half time and Picky wasn't in the game. To still get a win in those circumstances was a fair achievement and the players are obviously playing for him. I think he deserves another year, hopefully our CB agree.

QuoteThey cannot be re-instated year after year if they are doing a bad job. Or can they?

They can be if no one else wants the jobs, which is generally the case. There is a lot of deadweight on that county board and they'll continue to drag us down until some new people take the initiative to get involved and try to freshen things up.

Gerry Kavanagh will finish his tenure this year, but god only knows who will replace him. Probably someone already on the county board, and there's no one in there I'd trust to run a parish bingo, never mind the GAA affairs of a whole county. It's up to the clubs on that count, they'll have to start nominating people to run against the lads that are there. If we don't do that, then we'll end up with the people and setup we deserve.

As for the game, it looked to me like they were nearly waiting for an excuse to give up. O'Loughlin's red card provided that, they threw in the towel before he'd even sat down in the stand. I had high hopes for this year, I thought Creedon would be better, but Laois have been a shambles this year and the fault ultimately lies at his feet. We have significant problems in the county, obviously, but Creedon's primary job was to get the team fit, prepared and motivated for the league and championship, but he didn't do this. But if he wants to stay on and no other candidates are identified, he could well be given another year. I wouldn't be surprised if our CB stuck with him

QuoteIf the sanction is that severe then they won't do it in the first place.

You seem to be more in favor of the transgressors than the victims, then again that seems to be a common stance with you

What sanctions would you come up?

What on earth are you talking about, this is the first time I have commented on this? Relax yourself and cut out that bullsh*te for a start.

In no circumstance, where a child has done nothing wrong, should a child suffer on the back of the stupidity of an adult. The Chairperson is gone, and rightly so. To extend that, perhaps a moratorium on anyone from the school holding a position on the county Cumann na mBunscol committee for the next 3 to 5 years, and the school should hand over the trophy, and let Knockmay have their own presentation. I don't see what more can or should be done.

Banning Cumann na mBunscol or U-12 club teams is utterly ridiculous and only serves your own interpretation of justice. It's not justice for the children in Castletown, they still deserve to play hurling.

QuoteThe penalty should be immediate expulsion for the school from all CnaB activities for the year.

The same needs to be done at u12 level with the county board also.

So, because of a few stupid decisions by a handful of adults, we should ban an entire school and club from providing hurling to 10-12 year old children? Would you get a grip of yourself, that's a stupid thing to say.

Is the hurl alright??  :)

I think there is a home/away agreement in all minor and U-21 championships, that's why we had Louth at home and Meath away this year, having had the reverse fixtures last year. Last time we played Kildare (outside of the final) was in the semi-final in Portlaoise a few years ago, so this time it's up to that sh!tbox of a grounds in Newbridge

Clonaslee need a complete overhaul of the culture in the club, but god only knows how you would go about doing that. In the last year, they had a Division 2 football game abandoned against Annanough, had a player given a 24 match ban for trying to decapitate an opponent and starting a mass brawl in O'Moore Park, and now this latest effort. The reports coming out from this one are far worse, and more disturbing, than any of the other two.

That's just in 12 months as well. You can go further back and include the brawl in O'Moore Park that saw them banned from home games for five years, using club funds to bail a player out of jail to play a club match, and refusing to name a player who knocked out a young Rathdowney-Errill hurler in a junior match. That's only what I can think of, no doubt there has been countless other red cards, fights and abuse of referees, linesmen or opposition.

At this stage, I think they'll have to completely ban the club for a year or two. Allow juvenile players 'isolated player' status and let them go wherever they want to continue playing in the mean time, and then hope that the lunatics have stopped running the asylum when the club returns to competitive action. I don't know if any of that is within the remit of Laois GAA, but it's what I'd like to see done.

Or else see will Offaly take them  :)

Tadgh Doran could have played minor as well, althought I'm not sure. He was a very good underage footballer

Well holy f**k that was an incredible game of hurling.

Quotethis game is truly 50/50 and Offaly have home advantage.

If it is truly 50/50 then home advantage doesn't matter

QuoteI did say McGuinness if money was not an issue, I reckon Creedon's continued appointement will cost prob €100000 in just fan apathy the rest of this year.  I reckon we will have less than 1000 at remaining matches where if things going well we would have  2500 plus at matches.

That is an absolutely bonkers statement. I'd like to wish you well in your new job doing the accounts for Donald Trump, he'd love a lad like you inventing numbers for him. Good Jazus.

This notion that it is our club championship's fault we have a poor senior team is a load of sh*te. It is not up to the club championship to provide players to our senior intercounty team, that's what your development squads, minor and U-21 teams are for. It must be the guts of ten years since we beat any of Dublin, Meath or Kildare at minor or U-21 level. That drought is now playing out at senior level.

For the majority of players coming through, their sole experience of intercounty football is limited to a handful of minor and U-21 Leinster championship games, against the likes of Louth, Wicklow, Longford etc. They are hopelessly under-prepared for senior football, and that is what we are seeing now. It should be no surprise to anyone who has paid attention to our results at underage level for the last decade or so that our senior team are headed for Division 4.

Was wondering the same thing myself coming out Burdizzo. To see the players so demoralised in the second half was tough to look at it, at present I don't see the benefits of us being in this Division. Especially when you look at the subs we had listed tonight, they were incredibly young, the age profile is only going to get lower over the next few years
