GAA Discussion / Club Matches / Finals etc.
August 13, 2022, 11:33:45 AM
Is there a website or page where you can see a full list of club championship games for the next few weeks (semi-finals and finals etc.)?

Don't really want to go into each countys' club fixtures as it's a nightmare.

I thought HoganStand had a seperate page but just saw a county football fixture on it.

Anyone know of any good car boot sales about?  Which is the biggest and best in Ireland?  Currently cleaning house up and some 'junk' collected and no need for half of it!
Might try and off-load a few bits and pieces.
One man's junk is another man's treasure and all that!!

GAA Discussion / 'Bad Birthday' in GAA Underage
April 25, 2019, 01:50:42 PM
Anybody know when and why the Jan - July birthday rule came into play in underage GAA?

I think it's very unfair on players.

Has there ever been any discussion into changing it, aligning it with other sports at underage level?

Hurling Discussion / Throw In Times at Games
March 02, 2019, 06:55:23 PM
Just looking at the various throw in times for games today.

Personally I like the 1pm throw in games
Finished up at 3ish, then on the road again.  I think they should all be at 1pm on aSunday as no minor matches before them.  Maybe it's just me but I like to be on the road early and get to the game.

On Saturdays, I understand people work etc. and 1pm (during summer) is early.

Even double headers, I like 1pm and 3pm.  There are tv rights also to take into consideration and if it's a one off game or double header etc.

What do others think re: time for games and the various factors?

General discussion / Best Way to Watch GAA over Winter
December 20, 2018, 07:07:54 PM
Hi. Just a question from someone with no knowledge of tv technology etc.

I have a good tv but without Sky or BT Sports, is there any way I could get them without spending the huge amount of cash every month? I see the 'sticks' advertised but how do they work?

I 'd like it for the GAA season starting in Jan - football and hurling national leagues.

Any help, much appreciated!

General discussion / Cavity Wall Insulation
September 07, 2018, 08:52:37 PM
When heating is put off in the house, it gets very cold again very quickly. Been like this since we moved in. It's a detached house and neighbours say the same also.

I presume the builders put cavity wall insulation in when they were building it - sheets I'd say but how could this be checked and even though there is sheet insulation in the cavity, can these walls be also pumped with insulation beads...kind of a top up to fill the gaps etc. between the sheets?
Any help appreciated - need to save a few pound over the winter!!

General discussion / Roads Adopted by Roads Service
April 12, 2018, 06:48:03 PM
Has anyone ever heard of a situation where the Roads Service in the North hasn't adopted an avenue in an estate but has adopted the rest of the estate and therefore it got fully tarred etc.

The builder went bust just after houses were built and after to-ing and fro-ing for several years, the Roads Service finally adopted the main thoroughfare and a few other avenues but they haven't adopted a few other smaller avenues and drives.

I was just wondering what way this is in terms of getting a mortgage and buying a house in one of these roads that are not adopted?

Any info, please share.
