Hurling Discussion / Shinty & Cammag
November 11, 2008, 12:44:29 AM
Could the GAA not get 15 players from Scotland's Shinty or the Isle of Man's Cammag to challenge Kilkenny Next year...

Surely there is a young Joe Cooney or DJ Carey out there....

Well??

How much more of an Irishman/woman are you by singing the whole thing, or do you feel that there is more ways to show your Irishness then cheering on your team for the last 3 seconds of the anthem?

About time as well.

When they removed the Sunday sport on MW 2 years ago Northern Listerners had no Radio station to listen to RTE sport on as the FM frequncy was like listening to LMFM in Athlone.

All happening on the 14th of this month and looks like new FM frequency will be 87.8 in the North East

I know its a new RTE thread biut worthy of a post on its own for the lads in the North East

Hurling Discussion / A tribute to Offaly Hurling

Jaysus Found this olde film on Offaly hurling on the net and it brought a tear to my eye.

Its like watching an olde episode of Glenroe - Both were great in their day but will never make a come back.

Hi Folks

Citigolf are giving away a free night in Citigolf for 5 NI Sports Clubs & 5 NI Businesses (up to 40 people)

All you have to do to win the night is play our Christmas game and be within the top 5 be it for Sports clubs or Businesses come 11.59pm on Christmas eve.

The Leaderboard for the Top 5 Sports & Companies is not real time and well only be updated as the comp goes on. The Full leaderboard is real time.

Over the last year we have had numerous NI teams use us for team bonding including the likes of the Ireland Rugby Team, Glentoran FC, Belfast Giants and numerous Gaa Clubs throughout Ulster and we look forward to welcoming more in 2008.

Link here - http://www.citigolfbelfast.com/christmasgame/

Good Luck folks - Spread the word about between your own Clubs and work if you could.

Not up yet on Indo site to post it up here, but generally saying that we are €641,000 in debt for Football alone, and in need of an injection of cash.

Medical bills of €90,000 and a debt of €141,000 for football this season alone. Also mentions the similar situation in Biffoland (I think they put that in to soften the blow)

I know a few people in Westmeath GAA - good hearts but are amateurs when it comes to the business end. We are still the only county with no county website FFS. Our PRO writes in the Westmeath Papers every week and tells people to log onto a minor Westmeath football website for the last 3 years - yet the link has not been up for 2 years. Amateurs lads amateurs.

On a positive note - when was the last time our Footballers were mentioned on the back page of the Indo so far into August.

Made a video on the back of a lorry, and drove it up and down a run way some where.

Think they were from Kilcock or Leixlip.

WOuld be the first team to win all Senior Gaa Competitions. They are not far from winning the Christy Ring in the coming years.

The Biffs are an embarrasment to the Gaa  in the Midlands. Time for them to do the honest thing and elect to concentrate on winning the Rose of Tralee

Any Result to hand??

The Head groundsman is seemingly livid with the state of the pitch after the Rugby match on it yesterday. He is annoyed that he is going to have to spend 2 whole days fertilising it.

However Steve Staunton told him not to bother as he was going to be putting sh1t on it shortly

Lets rank them in divisions. Anything with old news on it cannot be division 1.

A county with a good website and e-communication structure surely shows progressing with the times and a modern approach to the way they go about their business. I know with my own club we send out emails on a weekly basic in relation to training, while we have an intra-net for talking to one another.

I bring this up as I raised it with my own County Board and PRO, who does a good job in relation to print media, about 4 years ago and even offered to contribute financially, yet nothing has been done about it.

The Westmeath site is http://westmeath.gaa.ie/frame.htm and I would give it 1.
