Hi folks, I edit the local gaa website using Macromedia! All of a sudden now, I can't post photos up on the site. All I see when I publish the page with the newly  inserted pics ( copy and  pasted in) is a red x in the corner! Must be something basic I am doing wrong! Last time I put up pics was last week but now I am having no success at all. I did not change anything to the best of my knowledge! We will be getting a new site I would say but for the moment I want to  be able to put up pics of the small lads playing in a hurling league competition! thanks for any help you may give me, it's a pain in the h#le!!!

Are the images linked correctly? You haven't changed the folder that some of your files are in? It sounds like the images aren't linked properly, is the file path correct, are you sure you have the extension right(i.e. .jpg, .png etc...), either that or the image has become corrupted, can you view the image? if when you open the image it isn't working then you're going to have to use a new one

Thanks MS! I was able to post pics up last week from the same folder. The  pics should be fine, I am able to view them fine!! I googled this earlier on and found that Contribute 3 is not compatible with windows 7 which makes no sense as I would not have been able to do anything with the website at all on this laptop as I have done all year long until this week!  How do I make sure that the images are linked properly? They are jpegs by the way!

Emm, I don't know. I've never used that software. Can you check the source code to see the file path. First check it on an image in the same folder that works and it might look something like this:
<img src="../../images/imageworking.jpg  title="image" alt="image" /> Then check the path of an image that is not working and it might look like this:
<img src="../../image/imagenotworking.jpg  title="image" alt="image" /> the problem with this line is that in the path the images directory is spelt incorrectly which would be a problem.

Is there an option where you add an image an other way, rather than copying and pasting e.g. clicking on Edit>Insert Image then browse through you folders to select the image you want?

Maybe this link could help you http://www.pageresource.com/trouble/timage.htm

Thanks again, I did try to insert the image using "insert image" but it still did not work!! By checking the source code you mean right click on the image and click on properties  in the folder where I lift it from...right?? Sorry I am not the most gifted IT person , I just have the basics to edit the site!!

I've looked around and Contribute 3 should work on windows 7 but to be honest I don't even know what contribute 3 is.

By source code I meant in the browser you can right click or click view and then choose the view source option and the look for your image code. I can see that would be difficult to find the actual code for you, it looks a bit tricky when you look at it without knowing what it is. I assume your using Internet Explorer as you see the red cross icon. Have you tried it on other browsers like chrome or firefox?

But if you inserted it using the insert image option I can't see there being a problem with the way the image is linked which would mean there might be problem with the image itself. You could try re-saving your image and trying again, that might work, probably not though. If you are on IE then try the site on firefox or chrome because sometimes IE has problems with things.

Is it just when you upload the site to the internet that the image doesn't work, if it is then it could be possible that the image isn't transferring over to the server.

I don't understand why I would work before but not now

Can you post a link to page on the web?
Can look at it better from there.

The image "view-source:http://www.blarneygaa.ie/AssetsGAA/pages/images/img_3708.jpg" cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

I'll have another look in a minute or 2

Yeah, the problem is with your image. You'd need to upload it again.

Seems to be a fair few images there with 0kb in size
