he has 7 top tens in last 9 masters but don't really think he has had a winning opportunity since he blew it back ten or eleven years ago.

He was only a couple back and in the final pairing going into final round with Patrick Reed (who was leading) a few years ago I think

But he's the best Irish golfer we've ever had, so if he's poor, how bad are the rest?

Golfs for Ireland but feels more British than Irish.

Nobody's perfect, but played for Ireland and is Irelands greatest golfer. You can argue his viewpoint all day long, but the reality is there is no one better on these shores.

If people don't like him for that then sure that's grand. Just say that rather than not recognise his achievements. Btw I'm not saying you don't  :P

Rory first appeared in the majors as a professional in 2009. He has a least one top 10 finish every year since then. A streak he shares with a grand total of nobody else.

Elite golfers are measured on Major victories not top 10s or any other metric

I reckon he will win a couple more before he finishes but he's probably had his purple patch, the standard is so high now

Over the same period of time only one other golfer has matched his 4 majors, Brooks Koepka.

The interview he did after last years Ryder cup revealed that he puts a lot  of pressure on himself and I think he really feels the pressure from the public too , the masters win would represent a slam of all majors and I think he will get it but looks like it's going to be a Sunday charge from a few strokes back and after the first few days conditions have been very hard .

I always think McIlroy comes across very well in interviews. Seems like a nice lad.
