AZ, it's got to be especially gratifying when you know the family.  I still can't believe how well he recovered from potentially disastrous shots, especially with the likes of Bubba, Furyk and Rose nipping at his heels.  And it was further fun with commentator Faldo so clearly (and understandably) pulling for Rose, and Nance for Watson.

In fairness to the commentators on Sky, they all seem to have a huge amount of time for Lowry, always admiring his natural golf game and generally how he handles himself both inside and outside the ropes.  McGinely was in his element last night singing his praises!

If and when Lowry wins a major then that will leave McGinley out on a limb. All the other Irish have majors (Harrington, Clarke, McDowell and McIlroy)

Ewen Murray from Sky summed it up perfectly. Brilliant commentator.

Lowry, like McIlroy, has that watchability (if that is a word!). Watching him and Watson playing that course was night and day compared to what Rose and Furyk served up. It is hard to watch Furyk play Golf.

No comparison between Lowry and McIlroy IMO.  Lowry seems like a real genuine lad unlike Rors who endlessly trots out the soundbites to keep the sponsors happy.  No doubting his golfing ability though.

Yeah but Rory's been in the spotlight for years. Shane has dipped in and out of the headlines in Ireland, but not worldwide. Unfortunately sometimes the wiser move is to do what Rory does re the soundbites, and if you're being interviewed every 10 minutes it's probably the natural thing to do too.

Don't use this as an excuse to bash Rory, and also don't be surprised if Lowry's public persona changes a little bit if he maintains a high profile. I'm sure his private one won't. His Da would kill him.

This weekend is some course alright - Rory and Shane to fight it out on Sun evening
