It's leverage from the Saudis to get a better deal. Deadline is the end of the year

My tuppence.

LiV has snared in Phil, DJ, Bryson, Brooks, Cammy and Sergio over the past few years. Some of the very biggest names in golf, as indicated by the fact that everyone knows who I mean, from just reading their forenames.

And you know what? Nobody cares. There is effectively nobody tuning into their coverage. Nobody, anywhere wants a TV deal with them. Apart from Australia, they're giving away tickets and begging for crowds. Sponsors still aren't coming forward. Sports bulletins ignore them.

I don't honestly believe that Rahm is a more significant player than than any of those mentioned. He may well be an elite player but he has zero charisma. And as such, his presence is not going to bolster LiV in any shape or form... apart from making the PGA Tour weaker for a short time until a replacement pops up (and Hovland or Aberg both are  absolutely primed for the top table).

It's just Saudis spending vile, truly vile amounts of money making a small selection of stinking rich golfers, unbearably rich. To no end.

Agreed. I wouldn't cross the road to watch LIV.

By the way, what are they actually doing to the golf ball travel less far?

Not exactly sure, but they could make the ball lighter, or 'softer'. Could also amend the dimples

Think 'range ball' and you'll get the idea

What a mess...

Jay Monahan is one of the stupidest people on the planet. How he allowed this to happen is beyond me. He should be the next strategist for the DUP.
How can he stop it, they are offering crazy amounts of money.

Wasnt that long ago Rahm said he had enough money blah blah, they are all full of shit but if he does go there will probably be a domino effect.

Would say Cantlay is busting his balls to go. PGA Tour will be fairly worthless if they lose a few of the top ones

I think all they are going to do is ruin the PGA tour. LIV is still a shite spectacle and as posted by another I wouldn't cross the road to watch it. Time may correct me but I don't see how LIV becomes something mainstream and will always be a side show. Losing DJ, Bryson, Brooks - didn't really damage the PGA tour all that much, and I didn't really miss seeing those lads in action. Brooks maybe, he's always good for a bit of drama.

Rahm is a potential nail in the coffin.

What's LIVs endgame here? Like hardly anyone watches the PGA tour outside of the majors and nobody watches LIV. If I get to see a bit of Sunday majors I'm doing well. They are blowing billions on this. It's obviously not a business they want to make money from.

Making these guys wealthy beyond imagination doesn't sit well with Joe Public either.

Very true but he should have had them inside as a sponsor much earlier and placated them. By holding out and kicking players off the tour he has created a war that he simply cannot win. They will keep coming back. Cantlay probably next.

Just happened to turn over to the golf there with McIlroy on the 14th green. Some stinker from him. 3 putted from about 2 feet.

Same - turned it on just as he was taking that putt. I'd have got that one myself.
Great birdie on following hole though
