Poor performance yesterday, Wicklow had 3 very good goal opportunities in the 1st half against the wind, and 1 in the 2nd half.

With O'Hare coming out to the half way line on the opposing kick outs, I'm not sure the benefits outweigh the potential negatives, a better team than Wicklow would have punished Down heavily yesterday.

I can't remember the last time I bought a programme, they are a waste of time usually.

We have 2 tough away games v Westmeath and Antrim. I was at both games in Newry last year and we were fortunate to pick up 2 points in both games.

Cormac Murphy made a significant impact off the bench. If he gets an opportunity to develop alongside McGuigan in this league campaign, it could be a major boost to Derry come the championship.

Down are away to Westmeath this year, so I'd give them a slight advantage.

I think Antrim will finish higher than 5th also, they were unlucky not to win in Newry last year, and gave Meath a right good game in Croke Park last season in the Tailtain Cup.

That's another tricky away game for Down too.

I see Johnny's lad is getting started early this year. Name a manager that regularly names a correct starting team. I hate the practice but they are all doing it.

Just because they all do it doesn't make it right. Donegal, Derry, Armagh, Tyrone and Cavan all have panels named. Pick any 15 starters from the 24/28 named - it's fairly straight forward. But yet our county PRO team gets an award... go figure..

Do we think Cushendall have much chance tomorrow?

I think the fact it's not Ballyhale is bound to be a boost to them although any club side that has quality like Lawlor, Butler and Keegan will be hard beat.

They'll probably have to improve again on the Slaughtneil display but I certainly don't think it's mission impossible.

They have a chance because all 3 players you mentioned are top players but are defenders. OLG don't have the calibre of forwards ballyhale have or have had and the same goal threat.

But they are probably going to have to work harder for scores and take more scores from play from further out to be in with a shout and I don't think they have that quality in their midfield and half forwards.  I reckon they need a couple of goals at least to win and that will not be easy against that defence.

So if they don't get goals, based on your posts, they'll lose?

Cushendall don't throw up too many goal opportunities and the Dall will score 95% of their frees within 70 met

My biggest worry for Cushendall would be the fact they conceded 2 goals to both Portaferry and Slaughtneil.

A bit unfair on Cushendall, I remember S'neil and Loughgiel playing All-Ireland semis in Newry against Leinster teams.

Cushendall beat Sarsfields of Galway in Navan the year they got to the All Ireland final, so I'd imagine that they will be happy enough with the venue.

Toreen win 3 in a row Connaught Intermediate hurling championships, are the folk saying Glenullin should go into Derry senior going to comment on that?

Of course they should be promoted and there should be a connacht senior club hurling competition next year. Kildare, Westmeath, Carlow all have club representatives at senior Leinster club hurling level.
