As someone pointed out, the Italians can proceed even while accommodating archaeological investigation.

The more comprehensive network is the freight lines. The first picture is lines that carry passenger trains. The US has a comprehensive freight rail network that moves a substantial amount of stuff. You want to see the mile-long double-stacked container trains hauling loads out of the port of Oakland with five locomotives pulling them.
