Arse about face logic. The peace process was only possible because the comrades of the hunger strikers finally realised that their 'armed struggle' was not going to achieve its objectives and opened up channels of communication to the British government in order to bring the thing to an end. The peace that we enjoy today could have been enjoyed decades earlier had it not been for the stupidity and short sightedness of people like Sands and his comrades. Great men? Absolutely not. Men with great hatred and fanatic hearts, as Yeats said.

It took the bomb and the bullet to get the Brits to listen. John Hume wasn't a violent man and i recall a peaceful protest in which he got smacked in the head with a batton.

The Hunger Strikers gained the support for Irish Nationalism to press on and force the Brits to talk and solve the problem.

Whatever way you want to look at it things wouldn't be the way they are today without the help of men like the Hunger Strikers and the IRA. What happened when the Irish government said they were going to send troops up to protect  the people? They stopped short of the border and stood idly by.

People being far too politically correct trying to score points.
The sacrafice made by the hunger strikers lit a flame that remained in peoples hearts and minds making the Irish people in the occupied 6 fight on against oppression and whether people like it or not this grew in to what we call the peace process today.
Any Gael that remembers going to football games being searched and stopped at check points for hours, sometimes missing games know how far things have come on and it is because of the courage and belief of these type of men that things were made possible.

As Bobby Sands famously said "OUR REVENGE WILL BE THE LAUGHTER OF OUR CHILDREN"

When you see kids running about in their club and county colours nowadays its a far cry from the days when this was forbidden in many areas.

THE GAA SHOULD BE PROUD TO BE ASSOCIATED WITH THESE GREAT MEN.

How can you be team of the decade when you couldn't beat Tyrone??

And to use provincial titles in Munster is a joke... One game to play.. The Tyrone u-16 development squad could get to a Munster final for jaysus sake...

To be the best you have to beat the best.. somthing Kerry couldn't do at 3 times of asking.

In my statement about Kerry being afraid of Ulster i even forgot the damage Monaghan inflicted and even Derry after going well behind in a National league...

Take Ulster out of the equation and Kerry are team of the decade.. and even if Kerry do win the All Ireland this year which i strongly doubt... NOT BEATING TYRONE TAKES THE SHINE RIGHT OF IT....AGAIN!!!

Tyrone won 3 All Irelands this decade... 2003 beating Kerry in the semis, 2005 beating Kerry in the Final and again in 2008..

How can Kerry even bring up an argument of being team of the decade??

3 TIMES IS NO FLUKE...

Kerry also lost to Armagh and struggled this year with Antrim so obviously the word ULSTER is a mental hurdle in the land of the second best team of the decade...

Justin McMahon has to be high up the list again this year for another all star. Anyone up against him gets very little change. Probabaly man of the match against Armagh from centre half back, marked Paddy Bradley scoreless in the semi and can't think of a player that is safer on the ball. He never loses it and comfortable on either foot. Even that score against Kildare was his "bad" foot.

Paul Galvin's having a great year for Kerry and Declan O'Sullivan's beem consistant again and the Gooch is coming to life at the business end of the year.

Will depend alot on who wins the All Ireland like every year. 2 big performances from any player and they could snap up a place...

GPA Player of the Year (Joe Mc Mahon) anyone?  ;)

I know that's tongue in cheek but come on - no one was mentioning Joe McMahon before his Dublin goal. Against Wexford? Played well against Kerry but of the 2 big men, Walsh had the better game with the lasting memory of Walsh skinning Joe undr the Hogan.

The only reason Walsh got away from big Joe was that Joe's boot had come off.....not easy to sprint in sock soles......

Watch it again and you'll see so hardly call it a skinning......

Dunno if he woulda got an all star but not even to be nominated is a disgrace when Walsh and Donaghy who were gonna cause so much mayhem did nothing..yet still got nominated....

The more ammunition the better and when all the players agree with it, thats really all that counts.

Justin McMahon has to be well in the running for an All Star and young player of the year....

He's one of only two players in the Tyrone team to have played every minute for Tyrone in this Championship campaign.

Hasn't put a foot wrong and the fact that he done a great job on Donaghy before, i don't think Donaghy would be looking forward to it.

What do you think?

If a player disrespecting the National Anthem is OK with the Dubs then its easy to see why success is very difficult to come by...

One of the things to be a member of the Tyrone squad is knowing the Anthem and respecting it.

Your right...i'd say Vaughan knew the words when the England rugby team sang there song.

By the way were you saying for me to go back to the soccer or MARK YAWN???

Starting nothing....

When playing THE NATIONAL GAME  and a player doesn't even have the manners to respect the National Anthem its a sorry state of affairs...  It actually bores him... I'd cite that as being worse than O'Mahoney by along long way.

Should never be allowed to wear the Dublin shirt again....

Looks like it was just part of the rumour mill....
the ZIGGY boy confirmed it..

Sure give the 3 of them ALL STARS....

Theres your full forward line...

That ZIGGY fella deserves an ALL STAR for bringing the biggest news story since JFK was nailed....

Stevie O'Neill is bound to be a shoo in is he not????

I know that but if you think back O'Neill was a bit player in 2003, i think it was because of college committments in foreign shores, but when it mattered he was there....

Think he scored at least 2, maybe 3 points in that final against Armagh coming on just before half time and the same again would do nicely....
