Quote from: general_lee on July 22, 2024, 09:08:46 AMThe scramble is well and truly on.
The Lurgan clubs all seem to be have been given half their allocation for the Hill, is this true of all the Armagh clubs? I see the grumblings have started on Facebook already about not getting tickets, mostly from people who apparently go to all the matches but didn't bother with a season ticket...
my club received a 50/50 split between hills and seats
so seems to be the norm
Think thats across the board. Be great to be from a club with more tickets than members..
Mr Maguire got a fabulous welcome last (and first) time. This could happen again if the luck is with the Orange men.

BTW what clubs do the various players represent ?

Hopefully Sam is getting the same welcome this time next week.

Which players? Clann Eireann have 3 starters (Turbo, TK and Barry McCambridge. Maghery have 2 in Crealey and Forker plus Higgins on the panel who actually started against Galway the last time. Cullyhanna have 3 lads on the panel who'll all likely see game time, Shanes have 3 on the panel as well but Ciaran Mackin is out with the cruciate. Fair spread across all the panel.

Notably, Cross have less involvement with this AI final than any previous one Armagh played in.
Yeah strange obviously given they've dominated Armagh even during a relatively poor spell.

Rian one of our main men, Morgan would be likely starting only for injury trouble. Oisin still massive for us off the bench and surprisingly hasn't got s starting place.

thursday or friday will see movement
guys are hoarding now but at€100 a pop they will be looking rid of same
my club only giving out on thursday as hoping for more
I saw on tirnanog Facebook page there county board meeting tonight.I recall in 2002/2003 seconds allocations coming through the Wednesday or Thursday before the match but there's obviously a quicker turnaround now and more pressure on the clubs to get sorted in quicker timeframe. Saw a thing campaigning for a lad to get a ticket on social media earlier embarrassing.
If its the same one I saw- wouldn't begrudge the lad a ticket at all hope he gets one.

There seems to be a disproportionate amount of Armagh people that have no club connection. Is this from the strangle hold that Crossmaglen have had at club level or why is this? Not a dig either, I can see how that level of dominance would leave people asking why bother.

That dominance is more in the normal range now, like Kerry in the All Ireland.
And senior dominance should not affect Intermediate and Junior clubs.
But many posters on GAABoard do not live in Armagh, which reduces any connection with a club there.

I don't believe that is the case . Alot of people seem to enjoy the day out going to watch Armagh and there's a large segment of supporters who won't go to a club game all year. Over the last number of years the intermediate and senior club final in Armagh has been played on same day and your getting 6/7k at the show piece club games, yet Armagh could probably get rid of 40k tickets for the all Ireland final/was probably close to 30k in Dublin last weekend.

Its going to be a scramble down to the wire to get a ticket. My club has 250 still on the waiting list so who knows

I think you could write a long essay on the subject. 2 things that I regularly return to:

- Don't think Crossmaglen's dominance has had any negative affect, underage numbers are still big everywhere, but a lot of parents send their kids to clubs as a babysitting service, have no real affinity and  so disappear when the kids lose interest. And very importantly - begrudge paying membership/s, that's a big reason in the apparent disconnect💰

- Premierleagueitis - Armagh is just coming down with people who only support the County team. Good PR & social media, bit of glamour & hype, decent team, party bus trips - the local version of a summer premier league package. (IMO)

Have Armagh the biggest Urban Following of any team outside Dublin?

Seems to be an awful lot of fans from big towns like Lurgan Armagh and Portadown?

Maybe I'm wrong.

Got my two tickets this evening. Lower Hogan stand. It pays to be a member of a club.

See some clubs in Armagh are doing a totally open draw which is ridiculous for those who knock their pan in all year volunteering have same chance of a ticket as someone who hasn't sat foot in the place since 2003.
