Liverpool's move for Fabio Carvalho is OFF.

Despite having agreed a fee and a five-year contact with the player, the Reds were unable to complete the necessary paperwork in time for the 11pm GMT deadline. There are no 'deal sheets' in the EFL, and with the clubs needing to finalise both the transfer itself, and a loan back to Fulham, time ran out.

Bad news for the Reds, who miss out (for now at least) on a very talented player. It remains to be seen whether they return for him in the summer.

It's really strange how Shane Long or Seanie McGuire haven't won the Ballon D'or by now at that rate with all the All Ireland's their respective counties have won ..
