Lovely jesture by Everton having that young Sunderland fan as a mascot yesterday.
When you think you're fucked you're only about 40% fucked.

What a game that was at the weekend!
Just shows what Lukaku is capable of when he's in the right frame of mind and gets good supply.
Saying that Bournemouth tend to play quite open football as Howe is a bit like Martinez in that he likes his teams to play out from the back.

I must say back at the start of December before the Arsenal game I was fearing the worst.
We were playing very poorly and not scoring any goals apart from Rom but with the 3 at the back, Coleman seems to getting forward much more and creating and scoring chances.
Then to get knocked out of both cups so early it was as if the season was over with nothing to play for. However, if Utd win the league cup and they or someone else from the top 6 wins the FA cup then 7th place will be good enough to get into Europe again like last season.

We're top of the current form table along with Spurs with 14 points from 18, having scored 17 goals and conceded 6. Lookman seems to be a great little player with such great skill and pace. A lot better than Deulofeu in my opinion and I think he'll score more goals as well.
Only 6 points behind Liverpool now who are in freefall at the moment which as a blue with red brothers is great to see ;-)

I'm not sure about Williams and Mori though as I think they still make too many mistakes. Kone had a great game for Everton reserves, sorry Sunderland at the weekend and I wonder will we be back in for him again or Keane from Burnley. No doubt the big clubs will be watching Lukaku very closely and be tempted to make another offer.
I think he will go at some stage but the question is when. He knows he's always gonna be the top dog with Everton whereas at Chelsea or another big club he'll be under a lot more pressure to perform and work harder.

The funding sounds complicated but it certainly looks like it's going to happen.
Hopefully we continue to improve on the field as well and are fighting to be in the top 4 with the big boys again.
It sounds like Moshiri's is a shrewd businessman.

Everton have taken a huge step towards leaving Goodison Park after 125 years with the news that the club have a land-purchase agreement with Peel Group for Bramley-Moore Dock.

Additionally, a funding mechanism has been worked out with Liverpool Council whereby Everton will fully fund the stadium but with LCC as guarantors of the required loans for the estimated £300m project which would potentially see the Blues kicking off in their new ground in 2021.

The news comes following days of mounting speculation that today would be the day that confirmation of a successful agreement for the potentially iconic waterfront site for a new stadium being struck. Everton's stadium at Bramley-Moore would form part of Peels' £5bn Liverpool Waters regeneration scheme which promises to transform the waterfront along Regent Road north of Prince's Dock while the LCC-backed Ten Streets initiative hopes to regenerate the derelict section along Great Howard immediately to the east.

Everton are believed to have negotiated a price of around £22.5m for the site on Liverpool's north docks with commencement of construction dependent on planning permission, the application for which will be submitted either later this year or early in 2018, and the funding being in place. The club's business plan provides for them staying at Goodison until the end of the 2020-21 season.

A full announcement from the Council via the LiverpoolExpress website outlined the creation of a "special purpose vehicle" whereby LCC would guarantee the loans, receive a security fee (reported to be around £4m a year) for its trouble and take out a 40-year lease on the site from the funder that they would then sub-lease to Everton. The club could then have the option of acquiring a leasehold interest in the stadium.

The arrangement does not involve any capital from the council but it allows Everton to secure funding for the project from a wider spectrum of lenders and most likely at significantly lower interest rates than if they were to go it alone as a higher-risk entity. The initial cost analysis is based on a 50,000-capacity stadium but Blues CEO Robert Elstone insists the final details have yet to be decided and that supporters will be included in a full consultation.

Funding structured this way is relatively common for projects like this that give a lot of regeneration/community benefit. Good news for Everton,  they needed to move to another stadium to try and get to the next level where they are genuinely challenging for the top 4 annually.

Coleman is a big loss but McCarthy is rubbish.

Syferus

McCarthy is one of the few we have who isn't rubbish.

Koeman I'm sure will respond to events last night in a measured and respectful manner.

koeman having a real dig at martin o'neill in the press conference today...

Angry Ronald Koeman Turns Up To Press Conference With Statement Criticising Martin O'Neill

All last week in the build-up to Ireland's World Cup qualifier against Wales, the expectation was that James McCarthy would not be available for the game.

Roy Keane said on the Tuesday before the game that the midfielder was highly doubtful for the encounter. So, it was surprising to see him in Ireland's initial starting line-up for the match.

McCarthy would suffer a recurrence of a hamstring injury in the warm-up and be replaced in the starting team by David Meyler.

Over recent times, the relationship between Ireland management and that of McCarthy's club Everton has undoubtedly been rancorous. Various barbs have been thrown back and forth between Martin O'Neill and Roy Keane and Ronald Koeman.

That continued on Friday when Koeman read out a pre-prepared statement during a press conference ahead of Saturday afternoon's Merseyside derby.

ADVERTISING

Already today there had been reports that Irish management called 'total rubbish' suggestions by Koeman that they had ignored the advice of their own medical team by naming McCarthy in the starting line for the game against Wales.

Koeman was not letting that line go though as he claimed O'Neill and Co. had failed to protect the player.

James had an injury when he reported for Ireland duty last week. Our medical team made the Ireland medical team aware of this of course.

Everton's medical team advised extreme caution, not only due to the current injury but to the previous injuries too. The assessment by the Ireland medical team was that it would be a high risk for James to play against Wales.

But James, of course, is strong and decided to play for his country. So when asked if he was fit to play he said he felt he was fit and he was selected to start the game by the Ireland manager who in my opinion in this instance was not protecting the player.

Clearly, James was not fit to play. He had trained only for two days with Ireland and he broke down during the warming up.

All these circumstances – he played only one game from the start in 2017 and he did not play for three weeks before the Wales game – mean in my opinion he would need one full week of training sessions with the team to be declared fit.

I spoke to James and told him 'you need to take responsibility of this'.
Koeman went on to say that further conversations between him and McCarthy were private and that the club, rather than him personally, would be involved in any discussions with the FAI.
