Don't think anyone overly shocked by this, the 3 young lads and I personally would include Bruno will be off limits.

The rest are available for a bid.

The rebuild has to start somewhere, losing Martial and Varrane off the wage bill will help, if could get Casimero and Erikson off to Saudi that would also be a big help.

Quote from: imtommygunn on Today at 08:31:28 AMI'm not convinced Shefflin is cutting it with Galway.

Cork are really up against it now and will have to beat Limerick or I would say they're out. Waterford need to beat Tipp or they're likely out too and same if Tipp don't beat Waterford. Tipp beating Waterford would help Cork a bi though.

I think Galway and Dublin should switch managers, O'D looks completely lost with Dublin doesn't seem to know how to progress them. Shefflin doesn't seem to be getting a tune out of Galway and IMO hasn't improved them either.

O'D back to Galway where he at least was passionate about it and knows the players, Shefflin to Dublin to bring that big name bounce and attract more players to the Dublin set up.

Both currently treading water and going no where fast.

Quote from: imtommygunn on April 29, 2024, 06:54:19 PMDublin a big game for both teams now. It's the kind of game we have got to before and got hammered. We're better prepped this time I think though.

Also Dublin have dropped their level quite a bit, I think genuinely we have been the better team over the past number of years despite the results.

Makes more sense now, definite second yellow a moment of madness unfortunately.

Serious questions to be answered by Tipp now after that performance, no point picking big men to compete physically with Limerick as they have the physicality and the hurling to go with it.

Was it a second yellow or straight red I couldn't pick it up.

Big result for the lads, but probably not a shock even with the performance the week before in Nolan Park.

Strange that our best players on the day all have played very little in the lead up to the game.

Maybe something to be said about freshness.

The draw between Wexford and Dublin could prove crucial.

Quote from: Turf on April 25, 2024, 01:17:41 PMMaybe he will stand in the centre circle and tell the fans their job now is to support the new manager aka 'the chosen one'.

Klopp is leaving Liverpool far better than he found them. If he had would nothing else apart from the Premier League he would still be considered a legend imo. The fact he won everything there was to win (apart from the Europa League obvs) means he will go down as one of the greatest managers the club has ever had.

Certainly whomever comes in has big boots to fill but they should be given time because it's probably going to take next season at the least to find his feet at such a big club.

Genuinely intrigued that Liverpool fans will hold him in such high esteem, or maybe is it recency bias? He delivered one league title in 9 years?

I get that he is an iconic figure and was box office and even fans of other teams will miss him from the EPL.

They hadn't won any league titles in the 30 years previous, 1 in 9 isn't bad considering!
I'm actually genuinely intrigued about how someone couldn't see him as anything other than a success at the club but sure each to their own I'm not here to change anyone's opinion on him.
Liverpool fans will hold him in the highest of esteems and probably won't care what any other fans think.

I was just curious, I know he is a bit of a cult figure. Just wondered if looking back it will be with a bit of regret that it was only one title.

That being said United would take a single title at the moment any season.

Fact the police went straight to charge I think should give an indication in this case.

That's not to decide on the outcome before it has been in front of the court, but the police obviously feel there is case here to be presented.

Is this the guy that Spurs were in for prior to Big Ange, if memory serves, he turned them down.

Quote from: johnnycool on April 24, 2024, 01:57:37 PMSome in Cork now questioning the value Horgan and Lehane bring to the team.

Pat Ryan under a bit of pressure this weekend

Can understand the level of criticism of the Manager but to call out two players who are just there because they are picked is a bit much.

Obviously no younger talent bursting down the door to take their place.

I am no fan of Cork either.

Going against popular opinion but mccoist annoys me. There, Ive said it 🤓

He's a dose

He was OK as a change from the usual Sky commentators but now that he is on nearly every time BT have a game he is sickening. Comes out with the same shit the whole time.

Once in a while was fine but now its just hard to listen too.

Ten Hag out very strong in the press conference today about the comments after the Semi-Final.

Suppose he has other option but to come out fighting.

Ah the aul hindsight and replays, multiple angles and so on, people hate VAR in the PL but call for it here!

Galvin needs to throw stuff out there otherwise he'll be not getting a wee earner

The PL have made a hames of VAR though. The standard of reffing in the PL is just generally abysmal considering the standard of the players. The same refs are in charge of VAR so it's a reflection of that. They could easily automate things like the ball going out of play and semi automated offsides. They have made some absolutely terrible mistakes. There's continually changes to the way they ref, some of which is announced, sometimes it's not. So something can be deemed a penalty, one week and then not be a penalty the following week.

It generally works grand for rugby and also for international soccer tournaments as far as I can see.

That's because they have tried to implement a system which is looking at something which is ultimately opinion and interpretation based. It is not black and white and 3 different people in the VAR room watching the same footage could make three different calls on it, so it was never going to be the silver bullet for refs.
If anything I think it is had made their life more difficult instead of less.

A magazine style show would give the opportunity to do more promotion of the game.
Get a few back stories around each game and peak the interest in the personalities as much as the product.

But seems to be little or no interest in doing something on the positive side like that.
