Quote from: Wildweasel74 on May 07, 2024, 04:12:39 PMDerry away to Galway at 5:30 on a Saturday, taking the piss, that's some spin to come up the road again on the same nite.

It could be worse. One problem now is that accommodation is expensive and hard to get. The Ulster winners are away to Cork on the June bank holiday weekend when there isn't an hotel room left in the place. It a fair oul drive from Armagh and a serious one from Donegal. The Ulster runners up get to go to Derry which might be a hard game but is less travel time for fans from DOnegal or Armagh.
That Cork game is badly planned. Think someone was saying theres a few different events etc on in Cork that weekend so everywhere is booked out or extortionate.

Thee wasn't even a whole lot of accommodation in Cork at the league game in March, which was the weekend between Paddy's day and Easter and probably not the peak of the year.

Quote from: seafoid on May 07, 2024, 07:07:38 PMMay the best team win. It would be weird to have Galway, Armagh and Westmeath in the same group again.

Armagh fans expect Armagh to do their utmost to avoid this scenario.

Quote from: SouthDublinBro on May 06, 2024, 07:26:19 PMA lot of people owe the Galway goalie Gleeson an apology. His frees into the wind at the end won them that game. I remember he got a lot of stick over the past few years, notably from his own countymen.
Do they really? He was a calamity against Armagh goalkeeping more inclined with junior b than an all ireland quarter final.  He did well with his frees at weekend yes, but criticism after the Armagh game was fully warranted.
If Donegal win the Ulster Final , Armagh will meet Galway again.

The best of three!

Quote from: Rebel84 on May 06, 2024, 09:04:39 PMThoughts on the very large protest versus the very small counter protest in Dublin today? The Shinners didn't seem to be popular with the majority of protesters.

On RTÉ news there the coverage seemed to be filmed on a mobile phone while an anti abortion protest also mentioned was filmed with a proper TV camera.

Quote from: Lubo Moravcik on May 06, 2024, 09:16:35 PMThe Irish are the biggest hypocrites on the planet with regard to immigration. The Irish government were lobbying the Biden administration recently regarding undocumented Irish in the US. Currently estimated at about 50K in number. (probably all unvetted military age males as well, shock horror)

Absolute hypocrites, they should simply state that if the US throws them out that they'll be allowed come home.

Quote from: seafoid on May 06, 2024, 10:28:41 AMDoes anyone have the statistics? Galway seemed to have been more efficient. Neither team were in peak condition either. Mayo lacked a bit of energy towards the end I thought.
Ultimately this match was only an appetiser
RTÉ stats.

How does "Scoring chances converted" relate to the next two rows? In Galway's case there is a only a difference of one in the sum of the frees and scores from play, but in Mayo's case there is a difference of 9?

Quote from: armaghniac on May 06, 2024, 12:11:00 PMYesterday morning on the Met.ie website the forecast for Sunday had rain the later part of the day. Yesterday evening the forecast for rain was gone, and it predicted dry and sunny, Today the rain is back but a bit earlier and likely to be a problem. The BBC website predicts light showers. Weather forecasting in Ireland is not yet able to predict this far in advance.

Two types of meteorologist in the world. Those who don't know what the weather will be like and those who don't know that they don't know what the weather will be like.

The Irish weather is like supporting Armagh, things seem that they will be good or bad, but you never know what will happen on the day.

Fair play to Ugwueru who didn't lie down in the Kerry penalty area, but got up and scored his first goal.

Quote from: Armagh18 on May 05, 2024, 04:19:14 PMComer will destroy any fullback with time and space like that.

And as Fitzmaurine noted, Galway are leaving him up near the Mayo posts.

Quote from: GAABoardMod5 on May 04, 2024, 11:47:58 PMDerry and Donegal, as Group winners, will be at home for their respective semi-final on 18 May.

How are the quarter final winners drawn against these teams? Avoiding a team in their group?

Quote from: armaghniac on May 04, 2024, 06:46:32 PMIts a bit one sided. The home draw for the semi final significant.
Lucky in the GAA that we don't have home semi finals where blue teams can fill the stadium with their supporters and overawe the opposition.
the Dubs can't fill croke Park this time of the year after 14 in a row. Who is responsible for this?
The stadium is never going to be filled unless it's an AI final or at a stretch Dublin against either Mayo or Armagh in a semi final.
When has it ever been any different?
Croke Park has rarely ever sold out for anything but an All Ireland final. This isn't a new phenomenon.

Eh??
On the basis that Armagh have huge support.

Armagh v Dublin 2002 was the first time that the "new" Croke Park was full, albeit with slightly less capacity than now, and a cracking occasion it was. Obviously, Dublin wee in the majority , but there were enough supporting Armagh to create an atmosphere.

But a Leinster final between Dublin and Kildare should be pretty full, that's about 2/3 of the population of Leinster. Unfortunately, Kildare have checked out.

Quote from: J70 on May 03, 2024, 08:37:28 PMMy club at home is sold out and taking no more orders.

Don't t think it will be 5:1 Armagh like in the 2022 qualifier.

Or the 2010 qualifier!
