Don't know enough about this really but why the vitriol from the Cleveland owner? Is James not entitled to play wherever he wants to when his contract finished with them?

would you have stayed in cleveland? of course not, they are not going to be winning a title anytime soon with or without him.Miami is where the power is now and kobe bryant may not see another title for a while. I actually think lebron is an ok kind of fella, tough spot he was in and he only done what the rest of us would have done, unless he wanted  be an eternal bridesmaid and moral victory specialist, he has done the right thing to be a champion.
come on miami.

It's not about where he has gone, it's the circus that he demanded this summer in order to prop up his ego. A winner would have quietly made his announcement, given respect and credit to his former team, team-mates and city, then moved to Miami and got on with the job. Instead we got a "look at me, I'm doing something" routine that a two year old would have been proud of.

Still seething.  Too angry to form even one lucid thought.

I despise not only what he did but the way he did it.
Mannix, your throwaway comment about Cleveland is cheap.

Exactly.

The wife is delighted with Le Bron coming to Miami she reckons "we might win a Super Bowl now"  ::)

mannix

throw away comment or not, he was with cleveland for seven years and still won  nothing. at least where he is gone now he will win and the clevelland owner talking crap about cleveland winning before miami, well what were you doing for the last 7 years?
James certainly created a circus about this whole affair, which is fine because thats what makes the money to pay him 20 mill a year plus he is one of 2 or 3 that can play at that level every day. Cleveland will not win much soon, of that I AM sure, who will they bring in? Miami and Boston rule the eastern roost now. The papers in nyc have headlines like "we don't need him because we are the best city in the world", a bit like cleveland but at least the yankees 200 million payroll keeps them ticking over for a winning team of some sort.
Incidentally, Cleveland was a big center of emigration for Mayo people over the last 150 years or so. Maybe before Lebron retires he could come and play midfield for us, like the Cavs we need help and badly.

Mannix, as a Mayo man, how would you like it if Padden said "Feck Mayo" I'm away off to join Colm Cooper and Mattie Ford on the Galway team.  That's the feeling in Cleveland today.  The jerk has the words "loyalty" and the Akron/Cleveland area phone number tattooed on his torso.  His whole life he has professed his commitment to the area, so you can understand the betrayal we feel.

Puckoon

Oraisteach, Cleveland must have been living in cloud cookoo land if anyone really thought LeBron was always going to remain there. It was never going to happen.

The media circus in miami today was one of the most crazy and cringeworthy things I ever laid eyes on. The city were presented with the "three kings", who in turn were presented with the keys of the city.

Chris Bosh, LeBron James, and Ddddddddddddddddddddddd WAAAAAAAADE.

Thats how the announcer said it;

I feel sorry for Cleveland at least they care about their sports, Miami is not a great sports town as compared to other major cities like NYC or Boston. The only sport that is really popular down here is football and even then they have trouble filling the stadium, lots of bandwagon jumpers down here so the Heat and Le Bron will be popular as long as they are winning.

muppet

Spent a summer working in Cleveland as a teenager and must say I loved it.

What's a LeBron?

That's why I feel bad for Cleveland. It's a real working class city and they love their sports teams whether it be the Browns or the Cavs. And Lebron is one of them which makes it even worse. Miami will only get interested if they look like winning a championship.

That said the Cavs had 7 years to build a championship team around Lebron and they couldn't do it.

Maybe hes not as good as we think.  If he wanted to be great and be mentioned along with Jordon, Johnson,Bryant, surely the way to do it was to lead his own team to a title/titles.  He took the easy way out choosing to join Miami for a quick fix.  Its also cover for him if they dont win, Wade and Bosh will take the blame aswell.

My thoughts exactly...although Miami have to be fancied from here on for a while.
James will never be Kobe let alone Jordan IMO.

LeBron is worried about his legacy, but by going to Miami he has turned himself not into Michael Jordan but into Scottie Pippen, a very talented sidekick.
