In fairness then it's just Paul O'Shea from Abbeyleix as Carroll is from Kilkenny. Best of luck to them. Hopefully they get the very best out of the minors. Is Carroll still managing Abbeyleix seniors now that he is coaching the Laois minors or has Abbeyleix got a new manager?

Carroll is not managing Abbeyleix seniors this year. From what I know he is a good 'hands on' type of coach, hopefully he can bring some of the Kilkenny mentality to our minors.

Abbeyleix looking for a new manager for 2016.

Be an experimental team, I'd imagine.

Paul O'Shea is manager, James Carroll coach/selector, Fran Dowling selector.

James Carroll is from Kilkenny, he was Abbeyleix senior manager for the last two years and I believe has managed Fenians seniors in the past. He was never involved in Abbeyleix Juvenile set up as was suggested above though.

Does anyone know of others who definitely applied for the job?
Enda Lyons? Arien Delaney?

Report from Hogan Stand...

Roscommon's new joint-managers Kevin McStay and Fergal O'Donnell enjoyed a winning debut in a SF challenge against Laois at Kiltoom last night.

The Rossies ran out comfortable 4-13 to 1-8 winners over a Laois team who also have a new manager in Mick Lillis, having led by 2-8 to 1-4 at half-time. Conor Devaney, Cathal Cregg, Cian Connolly and Enda Smith raised green flags for the hosts, while Donie Kingston was the Laois goalscorer.

Proceeds from the game will be split between the Roscommon team training fund and the Shalom Centre for Conflict Resolution and Reconciliation charity in Nairobi.

Roscommon will play another challenge match against Meath in Kiltoom on Tuesday, December 29 at 7pm, with proceeds from that going to Mayo-Roscommon Hospice Foundation as well as the team training fund.

Winners are not those who never fail, but those who never quit!

Does anyone know what sort of a panel is in with the footballers. Any new faces? Any old faces back? Have any more of the Portlaoise lads committed to the county?

mountrath1

Great to see Ross giving it another go this year, 33 years old now but has always been a great servant to Laois football..

A nostalgic look back at our golden crop of players from 2000 to 2009, how we let so many slip through the net and not get them involved at senior level will forever bring shame to Laois football mentors and supporters....
