The prices to go away for a few nights in Ireland are a disgrace

You are not wrong Jim. We spent 5 nights in Las Vegas a few years ago (good hotel on the strip, flights from Dublin -> Heathrow -> Vegas), it was cheaper than 5 nights (same dates ) to stay in a 3* hotel in Bundoran.

I'd rather stay in Bundoran. Las Vegas is my idea of hell.
Why so? You don't need to drink or gamble in Vegas to enjoy it.

Everything about it just looks so false. It's almost like a cruise ship, as you're feckin' stuck there in the middle of the desert. Just not my kind of holiday. Bundoran for me!  ;D

It's man/machine built like any city. I'm guessing you never visited and wouldn't be a fan of other desert cites such as Dubai? Better places in Donegal than Bundoran and I'd encourage you to explore the county, will be a lot more reasonable priced accommodation there than some of the prices quoted here.

Nah, desert cities not my thing.

Bar a bit of Innishowen, I've seen all of Donegal. I was being slightly sarcastic about Bundoran. But I'd still go there ahead of Vegas!

Agree on Donegal. It's terrible. Was there last year for a few days and just awful place.

The death total seems to have been artificially inflated from what I've heard. A lot of ppl down as dying from Covid when they had a terminal illness. Why?

Can SF support keeping schools closed now?
#3379
The thing that really makes me laugh is that SF's position was so pro lockdown. Close schools, close cemeteries, close pubs and keeping them closed when the DUP wanted to open them. Whatever about all the whataboutery and other funerals etc that was their hard position. Was it for show or did they really care about the public's health?

I'll be having most of the team back into the office in next few weeks. all within the guidelines, but I think we've been given the all clear now.
Jaysus, what's keeping yis? Lazy shites.

We've been working from home, a concept completely alien to the teaching community I'll grant you.

Second that Jim.

It is really sickening to hear this constant yapping about supporting our own during tough times etc - well I say f**k them if all they want to do is fleece their own.

Agree, wouldn't mind doing a staycation in Ireland but the prices are crazy. They're trying to grab back some of the lost profits.  Would be ok to a certain level but currently it's back to rip off Ireland again.

I think it is a case of supply and demand and what you're willing to pay. But like I said I rang a few hotels and they were booked out. I did get some availability in others and booked a very nice hotel but at over €2,000 it wasn't exactly cheap.

Two grand? Are you staying a month?!

Try self catering apartments. Way cheaper than that. I've never paid more than about €550 for a week for an apartment.

f**k that. It's a holiday. I want someone else to be cooking and cleaning up. A bit of luxury.

Leicester definitely haven't benefited from the break whereas Utd have. Chelsea have a tough few games as well coming up.

My next door neighbours son works in finance, lives in Navan, and he was travelling to Galway twice a week for meetings. I presume his colleagues were travelling from other parts of the country too.

Now it is all done by zoom, said they will never meet collectively for meetings again. Absolute madness what they were doing in hindsight he reckoned.

My sister in law works in some finance position in Dublin as well,  her whole office is working from home for the rest of this year, apparently productivity is up and very few want to return full time to the office environment.

Might bring house prices down in Dublin! If the job sector you are in means you can work from home then the need to move to Dublin or close to will become less of a problem for people, huge benefits for rural areas which would have lost a lot of people and players to the Big Smoke!

Commercial property is a cooked goose. Those developers will be hit hard. City centre office space and retail units, either on the high street of shopping centres are going to be worth nothing. Rent then mortgage defaults, other ventures those developers involved in defaulting as well, banks under pressure. A squeeze all around, job loses and then the dreaded 'R' word.

Over 70 applications to the Parades Commission in last 48hrs for band parades on the Twefth. Thanks Michelle. More brains in a false face.

Ohh its MON's fault...When the restrictions were lifted last week there was always gonna be application to march irrespective if MON had been buried herself. Don't kid yourself

Think you're missing the point. There would've been surely but a lot could've been turned down on SD grounds. Now that argument is fucked.
Anyway I actually don't really care. If there is Covid circulating we'll see evidence of it in Belfast after this past few days. If not, I reckon it's full pelt ahead. I myself will be asking employees will be asked to come back to the office full time. Other businesses will do the same. It's a green light for everything back to normal, which I have been calling for.

So you're complaining about MON not social distancing against a disease that you are highly sceptical of, claiming that it is giving the green light for normality to resume - which you have been campaigning for - and you're still yapping?   8)

She was responsible for drafting these draconian measures which she then went out and broke!
Fact is 500 people dead. Over 50% in care homes. Vast majority 70+ with underlying health problems. This isn't a reason to shut down the entire economy.

Dan Mcdonnell first mentioned it 2 weeks ago in the Indo. Plenty of news on it today on Twitter that it will be confirmed in the coming days
Sky reporting it too.
They're just reporting the rumours. Nothing yet to say it's 100%.
I hope it happens, but looking at Milan's squad it's a leap in class from what Burnley have.

Just what Milan need. Another distinctly average footballer. Hard to believe this is the same club that had Baresi, Maldini, Van Basten, Guillt, Nesta and other world class players at a time.
