Surprised with Murray and Fanning ???

Judges with the 350/1 docket in the pocket?

To be honest I wouldn't be surprised if they had! Can't see how Murray got it, he didn't keep a clean sheet in any game, I think he must have let in about 13 or 14 goals in the championship! Can't recall any amazing saves.

As for Cha I don't think he deserved one either this year -

Hard one to call, pretty similar to the Pilar and the Dublin football team - he has got them within a shout of an All-Ireland final , after a few years of not making the breakthrough do you look for fresh ideas or give him one more shot to see if he can do it next year! It would be very hard for a county board to get rid and always have the what if question hanging over their head when or if the next manager doesn't win an All-Ireland.

Also Waterford have some of their better players in the twilight of their careers, would be very hard for a new manager to come in and get the best out of them for one last go.

Henry was a good keeper, should have retired after 88 but continued on and in 89 made a few howlers in the All Ireland semi to Cost the Alley what should have been their two in a row :'(

Did that post not used to be a lot longer SuperMac?
Anyway, he's probably shite. Tony Doran won an All Ireland for his club Buffers Alley almost single handedly in 1989 aged 43. Tom Dempsey (remember him?) was also on the team as a youngster. He was shite then too.

Crazy, some seriously good hurlers on that Alley team - Brothers Sean and Colin Whelan, Mick and Henry Butler and Tom Dempsey!!! how can you claim he was ever shite? For years he carried Wexford

Hurling Discussion / Re: New hurling format adopted
October 01, 2007, 09:13:19 AM
The new format is complete and utter nonsense! Smacks of the GAA being seen to do something when really they are doing nothing! Antrim and Galway should have been incuded in a rest of Ireland championship with Leinster. Plus per my reading what happens to one Leinster team?

Leinster have 6 teams, 1 will be a first round loser playing Galway, 2 will be semi final losers going into phase 3 - that's 3 teams! am I missing something?

pat cronin? wouldn't have held a candle to ronan fallon who was outstanding this season- just goes to show how much the selectors know.

Have to agree, he didn't bowl me over this year! Fallon should have got nominated

To be honest I'd say it's a case of if Davy wants to go back then Davy will be on the team!

wouldnt mind watching a game out of interest, but i dont have bbc scotland ...

saw lacrosse recently on setanta, not all that great a game really, you seem to be able to walk as far as you like with the ball in yer net.

Yep, I saw the adds and thought wow this looks good! watched a game and couldn't get into it! very strange how you can stroll around for as long as you want with the ball in your butterfly catcher thingy.

To be honest, I think you will find pretty much every county has their share of racists! It seems to be the Irish thing of forgetting that we spent years invading other countries looking for jobs, now that the shoe is on the other foot we can't stop moaning about it.

Hurling Discussion / Re: Carton gets suspended
September 13, 2007, 04:47:55 PM
No! it was assault and Carton should have got suspended from all of Dublins Championship games next year.

However I don't think it is fair that the Dublin hurlers should be lambasted for what their County board did!

If the attitude of the Dublin County Board towards serious foul play is what it appears from the actions over the last couple of months, then it is just as well that their hurlers are a long way away from being serious contenders in the NHL or the Leinster or All Ireland Championships.   2 Leinster Minor titles without an appearance in an All Ireland Final and a 5 goal defeat in an All Ireland Under 21 Final after winning out in Leinster do not suggest that Dublin are about to become the 2nd best team in Leinster, however much Wexford and Offaly have gone back in standard.

I don't agree with all this anti-Dublin attitude! They are only doing what every other county board is doing! I think Dublin minors were unlucky against Cork but to be honest they still would have lost to what was a great Tipp minor team. The Dublin management must take the blame for their big defeat in the U21, any fool looking at Dublin in the Leinster Championship could tell that their full back line needed a major shake up, Dublin competed everywhere on the park with Galway but for one important place - an exceptional full forward line faced a very poor full back line.

Dublin are doing a great job at getting young guys hurling! It is a much harder job to get young guys hurling in a City where there are some many options available to them. I know where I come from (like most hurling Counties) it's a case of pucking a ball around or die of boredom! In Dublin it's not a case of a guy jumping on his bike and be training in 15 mins, it's probably leaving at half four to sit in traffic for 2 hours to be there for training at 7pm. I congratulate these young guys for giving that commitment to play hurling!

tipp v dublin could be played in the outsidefield in thurles thats how much interest they would be in it. we could play offaly in roscrea just so the offaly crowd wouldn't have to come to far, play laois in rathdowney would be something else, only the wexford camogie would give us a game and with  kilkenny, in decline i think we Will stick with the munster championship.

Are you forgetting who knocked you out of the championship this year, and might I add should have won by 10 points! Offaly threw it away against ye also!

KK in decline?????? what world are you living in? go watch some of their club championship games and you will see a very strong championship

Hurling Discussion / Re: Hurling Repairs??

Ask in your club, I know my club (probably like most clubs) have a guy who can repair hurleys.
