Crossmaglen may be the Club Kings of the modern era but back in the mid-1980s there was no-one to touch Burren from County Down. Men such as Shorty Treanor, Paddy O'Rourke and Tony McArdle drove Burren to All Ireland successes in 1986 and 1988 which were celebrated at the Canal Court Hotel in Newry on Friday March 18th. Players from both teams were in attendance, with 1986 corner-forward Jim McGreevy making the journey home from Australia. He said it was a 'very special time' in his life. This is a short video clip from the night - http://bit.ly/dHQqGs

Fantastic footage here from Croke Park Club Finals in the 1980s - Burren winning both times, complete with interview clips, drama, Hill 16 being worked on, Frank Mitchell/McClorey on commentary, etc - http://bit.ly/ed3gYB

SHEEDY

what a team burren were in the 80's. would have loved to see how they would have fared against the current cross team. its hard to compare eras but that would be some match.

Here's some more archive magic, the 1986 MacRory Cup Final. Really poor picture quality but hey... http://bit.ly/fHzdj3
