Some highly excitable and exciting commentary ( not a bit unbiased of course  :P) from Messrs Duffy and Tireney on this one.
Well done - great result.

For sure - and then Shiteside would ruin the moment and switch over to Willie Hegarty  ;)

Ha Willie Hegarty off Shannonside, rare as they come...

It won't be the next manager but the one after that Meath will become competitive again - MO'D 2016

Poor result for Rhode. Big fish in a small pond syndrome. Wasn't at it, so I don't know how good or bad St. Pats are, but Rhode have a lot of experience, and should be able to turn a home draw into a win.

O'Mahony's beat Tones by about 8 points.

Seen O'Mahonys in four of their championship games this year - they're easily the best in Meath. For the sake of the county, I hope they take the celebrations easy and give Leinster a good rattle - they're defintely capable of winning it with the names they have. I only realised after yesterday's game but they've conceded an average of little over six points in seven championship matches in Meath (0-4, 0-5, 0-4, 1-6, 0-9, 0-9, 0-7). A miserly enough defence. I wonder what sort of test Killoe from Longford will be able to provide? Looking at the rest, the Dublin champs (any result?) as well as St Patricks from Louth and Mullingar Shamrocks having knocked out Rhode and Garrycastle respectively. Portlaoise and Sarsfields to worry about too.

Lads the standard in the Meath county final was very poor. O'Mahony's were missing some players as well but it's hard to see them troubling Portlaoise, Sarsfields or Ballymun

Portlaoise will be heavy favourites now for this I'd imagine. Sarsfields will be inexperienced so hard to know how they'll go but their manager John Crofton did lead Towers to a Leinster Club final in 2003.

Portlaoise best priced 7/4 looks generous if they're up for it. It's hard to know whether being able to cruise through the Laois championship every year does them much good though.

I don't know what to make of Sarsfields. I thought they were poor enough against Carbury given the quality of their football in the run up to the final. If they can get back to that form then they might give this a rattle. I don't think their backs are quite good enough to win it out and the quality of their forwards alone won't be enough to dig them out against the likes of Ballymun and Mullingar.

A lot depends on how they spend this week. Meath has a high turnover of county champions (7 in the last 10 years) so the tendancy is to celebrate wildly - teams like Portlaoise are regulars in the Leinster club championship. So probably not as much celebrations.

However the impression I got from the interviews on LMFM after Sunday's final was that O'Mahonys were eyeing up a Leinster campaign. I think they're capable of winning it but will probably need a small bit of good fortune along the way (like any team trying to make a breakthrough).

There hasn't been much appeal in any of their games I was at either. They're dogged but the standard isn't neccesarily poor.

A football county like Meath seldom have club sides competing seriously for Leinster club titles, how is this ? O'Mahony's would have a fair scattering of past and present county men.
Who were the last Leinster champions from Meath ?
