Is it true Paidi has been training Clare for an all out bust up with the kingdom ?

Francie will be a huge loss alright. Full-back is the hardest position to fill in football/hurling.
The cruciate is a common enough injury nowadays (accross all sports)
I tore mine just less than 2 years ago and have more or less retired from the GAA fields.
The cause of this injury is debatable.
For myself, my injury occured after less than 10 mins in a football match, and I blame it on having been at training the previous 3 nights in a row (soccer & football).
One of my brothers had the same injury, and a friend of mine had his done and so had his father and 2 of his brothers. There is definately a case to say that genitically some people are more prone than others to these injuries.

To avoid this injury, build up your Quad muscles. As simple as that..
It's true that there is too much emphasis on upper body strength in GAA and not enough work done on leg strength. In saying that there are plenty of rugby players who have this injury as well so building bulk on the quads doesn't guarantee safety from injury.
It's just bad luck in most cases I'm afraid.

Hurling Discussion / Re: Kilkenny Vs Waterford

Looking forward to this one alright,
Waterford are about 2/1 which is definitely worth a small flutter. A win for the them will really set them up for the cork/clare game. It'll be interesting to see how the Cats do, Galway & Wexford nevere really put it up to them and Waterford will be a far bigger challenge

GAA Discussion / Kerry v Clare U-21
March 12, 2007, 05:45:37 AM
Was in Kilmihil to witness a huge victory by the banner over Kerry. Clare were completely dominant and should have won by a lot more. I know Clare have a decent enough team, but that was a very poor performance by the kingdom. Best of luck to Clare anyways, but a bit worrying for the kingdom boys..

All this in the same week that Brian Corcoran spelt out what the Cork players thought of their Waterford counterparts. Something along the lines of playing for themselves.....
