Linesman shouldn't have flagged but Madrid players had stopped playing before the ball ended up in the net so who knows how it would have panned out.

The linesman flag carries no weight, players should only play until they hear the ref's whistle.
In any VAR the linesman's flag would be ignored.

Yeah you're right, Madrid players definitely stop and keeper doesnt even move. Most likely they don't score but we'll never know

It's immaterial though, because the reason Madrid stopped was because the ref blew the whistle.

He's some boy though, Ancelotti!

Yeah brutal call, overall though best team on the night won. Madrid are proper winners and always find a way.

Yeah you're right Madrid players did play to the whistle. Whistle went, they stopped playing and De Ligt finished it. I just think it's not the big injustice it's being made out to be.

The linesman isn't meant to put their flag up until the end of the play even if there is suspicion of offside. It was a massive error. The player does look marginally offside but it's hard to know for sure unless they use the technology. Also the champions League offside system is vastly superior to the prems

Taylor

Pick your poison..............VAR and the shitshow it brings or human error like last night.

Im surprised they havent shown that the player was actually offside.

They werent long showing the Madrid fans their first goal was correctly ruled out because of the foul. Assume this was to keep the masses happy in the stadium

Joselu is something else though. Doesn't matter if it's the Bernabeu or Stoke on a wet windy night, the man delivers!!!

More like he couldn't do it on a wet windy night in Stoke. Crazy that 2 failed former Stoke strikers were leading the line at the end of a Champions League Semi Final.

Who's the other one?

Always great to see stories like this. Only got his first Spain cap last year too at 32. Unbelievable night for him and his family.

Thanks. They just missed each other at Stoke too I see. Very similar strike rate as well.
