On another note it's gone unnoticed this weekend that with two games to play Liverpool can't finish in the top two this season and from this position when the title was theirs to lose.

T,is nearly as bad as being 4 points up with a quarter of a game to go and somehow throwing it away. How Armagh managed to orgestrate that level of a collapse is remarkable. Surely one of the biggest bottle jobs in Ulster history.

Quote from: Maroon Manc on Today at 03:17:15 PMGalway get the toughest group for the 2nd year in a row which isn't much reward for winning Connacht.

Could come down to small margins last year, many people forget that if Tyrone had beaten Westmeath Galway would have gone through as group winners.

Derry are rightly favourites, just hope Galway turn up and put in a performance.

Heslin had the chance to win that game for Westmeath and the result would've been the same.

For small margins I would look to Walsh's missed penalty and final free kick in the game against Armagh.

Is this what people want to stop?

No easy game especially Derry in Derry. Massive, massive ask for us to pick ourselves up again after yesterday but if we do we're well capable of topping that group. We know how tricky we got it against Westmeath last year and obviously know all about Galway.

Thanks folks. The company I'm looking at has slashed the excess cost - only €20 extra for the full package and was quoting at €270 extra originally

No where near as bad. Ulster title not won with a penalty shootout and up against a favourite Donegal side with their messiah back leading them. Liverpool on the otherhand dropped points against number of sides they should be beating comfortably over the last few weeks.

When Manchester City pick up the league title next weekend Klopp and his players will know it should have been them instead.
I know your sore, but two years running Armagh have managed to bottle it. Being gifted a draw for 2 years and still not getting over the line. They will look back and realise how bad it was. I feel for you.

Quote from: lurganblue on Today at 08:46:16 AMNot the group Armagh would have wanted to be in of course. It looks like it will be very tough. Westmeath probably should have caught us at this stage last year and they almost caught Tyrone too. That certainly isnt an easy game.

Going to Celtic Park is always difficult for any team.

I dont expect there to be a big margin between the teams in any of the games and so the final standings could well be up in the air. Topping the pile would be amazing.  If not, then getting 2nd and securing that home advantage is essential.

I'd agree. Winning the group is vital.
Galway definitely favourites with the 3 forwards all back and they've have had another 2 weeks training banked

The bookies don't share your view. Derry are 4/5 for next week's game and Galway 11/8.
Good value on Galway at home and a bogey team for Derry.  Galway/Derry to be the top 2 with Armagh/Westmeath battling out for third would be my view. The most winnable game for Armagh is first which not ideal given yesterdays outcome and how flat they were against Westmeath last year.

Quote from: general_lee on Today at 11:00:56 AMIf there's a silver-lining to yesterday's performance it's that Armagh put on an exhibition on why the attacking mark should be ditched. Such a stupid rule.

Odd take. I think the attacking mark works. I also don't know why you would get rid of it because 2 Armagh players didn't have a shot.
Why does it work? It stops players from taking a man on and the art of 1 v 1 defending in many instances. I think the general concensus would be that the majority would like to see a player take his man on as that is what gets punters off their seats, not someone being able to take a free shot at goal or worse slow down the attack then kick it back.

It does not stop that, you can still take a man on and many teams do. It does stop a man catching a long ball in and getting swamped by 3 defenders and getting turned over.
Any player worth their salt that catches the ball within 30/35 yards is going to take a free shot at the posts in the majority of circumstances.  The only reason you maybe wouldn't if chasing a game looking and need a goal.
Just watched jarly og and soupys marks back and to be fair I think Jarlys would have been scorable but not easy for a free taker which he certainly is not. My issue with his is why take the mark at all, you've got the ball in a decent postion try to take a man on and work something. Soupys was on the wrong side for a right footed player.

I went to the antrim game yesterday which wasn't bad. It wasn't massively well attended but there was hurling the day before and a lot of underage games on between county and feile which likely took away from it (and we typically aren't the best supported anyway).

All that aside it was entertaining enough and Tipp had a few boys who'd have been among their better players a few years ago playing so good to get a win. You would suspect they are sore from losing to waterford too so maybe are trying to restore some pride. Most games went near enough as expected I think.
