Maybe the non-county players had accumulated some mental fatigue from the almost back-to-back seasons but they've learnt alot from these runs and held their nerve on big ocassions. Brigids have alot of scope for being an even better team after they recover from this loss. It'll be hard to put a third run on the trot together but I can definitely see Brigids being very close to Croke Park again in the not too distant future.

I concur.  Both semi finals were a joy to watch and I was thinking to myself it was a pity the IC football wasn't like this.

The most enjoyable football to watch is underage, Sigerson and club football.

Better players means less room for the good ones. My most cherished memories remain the 2001 and 2010 Connacht finals (coupled with the 2006 minor finals). Nothing can top that sort of unified passion and excitement of those occasions, both on and off the field.

Ah Jaysus. If you love sport and competing and you can make a very good living doing it professionally that's a dream come true for most who achieve it. The simple fact is there's a hundred failures for every success story at that level of sport.

Yeah, because the GAA could exists in today's world without TV revenue and all the associated sponsorship deals and promotion coverage of major games give the sports. That attitude is the fast track to the GAA being an irrelevancy in the sporting landscape.

And TV3 are the ones that are worst, they have a second digital channel and could easily pick up the tail-end of the club championships, Under-21, Sigerson Cup finals and league matches if they had any desire for something more than a ratings spike.

It's the GAA that should get aggressive and package Dublin/All-Ireland series matches with commitments to show more and more live coverage of other grades. It's their responsibility to force their way onto tv more, not the stations to bow down before the mighty sons of Davin, all they care about is cost and ratings.

Just because a player hasn't featured previously or wasn't up to it before doesn't mean you should disregard players. Having two long runs in the club championship has brought on alot of this Brigids team and they're all far fitter and naturally more focused than they were  a couple years ago.

We don't have the luxury of throwing 20-25 year olds on the scrap heap like that, especially from a club as consistently good as Brigids. Almost all of them are worth bringing into the fold so they can prove their worth or lack thereof.

The fact Saturday games allow for more scope for travel means Saturday game are actually preferable in alot of cases.

The GAA should start to regularly schedule afternoon inter-county games on Saturdays.

Gutted by the Brigids loss today but the silver lining is that Senan Kilbride, Ian Kilbride (who I thought was one of the best players on the pitch today), Domincan, Mannion and whoever else Newton fancies will be on the road to Pearse Park again in two weeks. Longford's task just got a lot harder.

In all honesty apart from Domo, Mango and the Kilbrides .... who else on the St Brigid's team would be considered a County player?

Good thing is the 4 lads have 2 weeks to get over today ... and nothing like getting up on the bike again after a bad fall so maybe they'll take it all out on the Larries the next day.

Don't think any others would be starts, at least not at first. Niall Grehan, Cathal McHugh, Darren Dolan and the Sheehys are all young players who could turn up something very worth-while for the county team and Darragh Donnelly is a solid, experienced back who is hardly old himself. Especially with all the injuries we have I wouldn't be surprised to see a super-sized Brigids contingent on the panel in two weeks time, Fergie's biggest selection weaknesses was probably not mining the ore in Kiltoom a bit better because we're still not sure about many of those players' capabilities at inter-county level.

Had a feeling one of the favourites would be beaten shame it had to be St Brigid's. Congrats Garrycastle without a shadow of doubt on the day the best team won. Anthony Cunningham (former St.Brigid's manager) did his home work & got his tactics spot on. St. Brigid's downfall was the slow start they have been getting away with the slow starts in the Roscommon championship but it wasn't going to happen v the leinster champions.

Has been a long two years for St Brigid's they proudly flew the Roscommon/Connacht flags & i'm sure they will be back to give it another lash in the years ahead.

P.S well done Crossmaglen the Armagh machine keeps rolling has the makings of a good final.

Age profile and underage success says differently. No need to over-react - they're easily the best club in the county and will be a good bet for another county title this year. In Connacht they'll have a huge battle to put together three Connacht titltes but it's not like any team in the providence will be able to out-class Brigids. The possibility of an All-Ireland is very much still there.

The reality (when its not midterm break) is that aaron and jamie would make the armagh team and tk, sk and morgan are able for the squad.

Club football is waaay below county stadard and thankfully Grimley will be well aware of that and won't waste time and places on the panel finding the rest out.

When cross hopefully win the all ireland that won't change things - club teams beat other club teams all the time but doesn't change the individual capabilities of the players.

At the top end there's not much at all between the best club teams and D4 and D3 teams. I'm sure there will have been instances of the top teams losing to clubs too. Brigids only let mighty Carlow score 1-2 in a match and regularly beat county teams.

Players from the undoubted best club in a county will allways be worth a look, especially if the county in question hasn't been particularly successful recently.

. Give the Railway cup a fixed date and good promotion and it will prosper again.

Kildare have never really been a force in the league so it'd be stupid to worry about a couple of losses. It's clear McGeeney's goal is for the team to train hard through the early parts of seasons and be able to out-last opponents come the championship. It's worked pretty successfully for them for a good number of years now and I doubt they seem much need to change tact.

Great to see Cathal Cregg coming on for DCU, all things going well he should be ready to go against Longford in two weeks.
