Surveying the recent news and particularly the analysis of the reasoning behind Muslim attacks on western countries, it appears that this is expanding into something incomprehensible in the realm of global warfare.

I was thinking, how long is it going to be before an extreme (independent or covertedly state backed) christian grouping brings jihad back on muslim countries?

Will the first day a bomb wipes out a mosque or shopping mall in saudi arabia signal all out mayhem for us all?

Obviously it's half in Irish and half in English. What is the point?

First week i tuned in on the way home from that day's championship match only to switch it off after enduring it for fifteen minutes. Only a tiny fraction of it's potential audience can understand it and will not persevere through large sections of irish.

Why have the decision makers in question so blatently wasted an opportunity to provide a much needed forum for GAA discussion and interaction. it really bugs me.

If any irish speakers could desist from the aul line about it being our heritage to learn the language and quoting the nonsense figures regarding the numbers who speak irish, that'd be great. i loosely canvassed 25-30 lads who play or fanatically support gaelic games. 1 fella had enough irish to understand the program and most of the rest had tuned in once only to be pissed off and turn it off.

Greenan says "I told you so"
17 May 2007

Outspoken former Ulster Council chairman Michael Greenan has slammed the decision to no longer allow GAA teams to train at Croke Park before big games.

The same rules will not apply for international soccer and rugby teams playing at the venue as such familiarization sessions are a key part of pre-match preparations under UEFA, FIFA and IRB guidelines.
The new rules were introduced in order to reduce the amount of wear and tear the Croke Park surface is subjected to. It has also been announced that Croke Park will no longer host triple-headers for the same reason.

"I can see their point, but the soccer and rugby teams are holding five or six training sessions on it before their matches," said Greenan, who was fiercely opposed to the opening up of Croke Park to other sports.

"Then you had our own teams' limited access to it for 20 minutes. What can you do in 20 minutes but have a few kicks at goal?

"The whole thing is gone pear-shaped but I knew that was on the cards anyway. If we didn't know before, we know now. It is a total joke. I'll say one thing to you: I'm not always right but I'm seldom wrong.

"I saw this all coming. We're seeing the after-effects of the decision to open the stadium up. It pains me to say it, but I told you so."

GAA Discussion / Armagh Vs Down
March 20, 2007, 11:17:40 AM

A must win for both counties.
Morale is low in the Armagh camp but a loss to the old foe on sunday will mean the third division next year. Armagh will obviously not have the cross lads and there'll be no u21s starting given they're playing on saturday, so it'll be the bare bones.
Down will have no problem getting themselves up for this one and despite all of the experimentation to date, i'd imagine down folk will get an idea of management's thinking on their best team this week. i'd say ross and dj have been plotting for this game from the outset.
Down could just nick it.

GAA Discussion / Armagh Vs Derry

Potentially a tough assignment for Armagh. Derry don't seem to be playing with the same aggression and confidence which swept Armagh aside in celtic park last year but have the ability to beat anyone when they have the heads right.

Home advantage (!), mcgrane fit, bradley injured and a 20 minute marsden cameo should get armagh through.
