Nasty knock for Skrtel on international duty.

Hopefully the Gomez injury is not too serious but at least Clyne is back, think he played for the u23s a couple of times.

If the above article is correct, then that will take the heat out the NI thing. There wouldn't be much in the way of Irish sea restrictions other than for animals and the like, which exist already to some extent anyhow and which will be called veterinary inspection and not customs.

DUP cant really complain about animal restriction checks after Paisley's Our people may be British but our cows are Irish stance on Foot & mouth

The French/Dutch company that won the contract were £120mill cheaper.  Brexiters going ape shit.  Free market, anyone??

Brexit in a nutshell. A shower of entitled, whinging fcukwits without a plan who seem to believe the world owes them a living up against coherent, hardnosed negotiators who will screw them into the ground in said negotiations. But hey, at least they get to choose the colour of thier passports....

Has anyone seen the list of players potentially leaving in the summer that are either out of contract or out of favour.

It is quite extensive from what I saw.

Out of the current squad, who would you keep or class as genuinely world class.
De Gea
Bailly
Valencia
Young
Matic
Pogba (at a stretch)
Martial
Rashford
Lukaku
Sanchez
McTominay

After that I'd be looking for a total revamp. Whats there hasn't been good enough. Weren't good enough under Moyes, then LvG, and now Mourinho. Instead of the manager getting the blame, the players should look at themselves and their performance. I seen an article yesterday about Luke Shaw from his old coach at Soton ''have to keep on him....lazy'' like FFS this is a professional athlete.

Always rated Valencia highly. Young and Rashford decent. Sanchez good player, not done it for United yet. Would keep those four. Give McTominay a chance to prove himself too.

The others I'd get rid of in a heartbeat.

The one man in the exsistence who would get rid of the best keeper in the world.

I'm not getting rid of the worlds best keeper. I'm getting rid of De Gea.

WUM

Unless you had Neuer or Oblak lined up there is no contest, and even thats debatable. You could possibly make an argument to take Donnamura based on his age and potential, but not at present.

Kevin De Bruyne will win the PFA player of the year however Mo Salah has to be a close second.

Salah has been clearly the best player, every goal from open play (I think)

Second best goal difference now !!

Nearly.....Penalty against Huddersfield!

I'm  pretty sure that in Suarez's epic season in 2013/14 he had no penalties and missed a few games at the start of the season due to his ban. 31 goals in 33 league games is some return but Gerrard scored ten penalties that season.

Report on Liverpool's loanees

https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/clock-ticking-origi-markovic-still-14437869

Wilson and Grujic look to be the two who look like they could push into the first team squad next year. Hard to see many of the others making an impact with the possible exception of Kent/Chilverra.

Has there been a bigger disappointment that Markovic in recent years??

Was the general consensus not that Jackson did ok?
I havent seen the media comment on whether he was good or bad. The lynch mob on here were going to say he was terrible regardless. There were certainly a lot more inconsistencies in the defence's evidence which is to be expected as there were 4 of them and everyone was drunk. There are enough gaps and contradictions between the girl's evidence and her earlier statements for PJ and Olding to almost certainly get off though. I thought she did sound coached in some of her comments. "I utterly refute everything you have just said" struck me as an unnatural response from a 19 year old but then she can hardly say "you're full of shit" in court either.

I did hear a rumour her parents work in the field - dad either a judge or barrister and mum a solicitor.  (could be b*llshit though)
Dunno about that, but she came across as extremely well coached. She had pre-prepared lines for whenever she was accused of an inconsistency or whenever the defense lawyers were stating or implying something she disagreed with. She seemed to elaborate whenever she could, rather than sticking to Yes/No answers. Overall it seemed to me that she had a confident and coherent answer for pretty much every single question asked. The exact way I'd want to be if I was being questioned in court.

I've no doubt Jackson came across well. Anytime he's been interviewed he comes across as very likeable. Whether you believe the message is another story.
The issue with all the lads testimonies was the inconsistencies. I think the difference between Jackson and Olding could probably be explained by drink. McIlroy is pure fantasy! It would seem that there was never a time when the 4 lads and the 4 (or more) lawyers got in a room to come up with a strategy. Unless the strategy was to come up with 4 independent strategies!

Not sure if you were serious Hound but I was wondering if this would this be a valid approach for the defendants collectively to come up with? i.e. have such a complex/inconsistent/we were drunk  story between the four that the jury not only has to decide if they believe the girl or not but also which version of the defendants stories is valid? Certainly creates additional doubt but would strike me as unlikely/high risk. Is the more likely scenario "every man for himself"?

It is.

There's no doubt she was coached.  So were the defendants, after all Harrison's father is a solicitor ("Dad will know what to say").  If that's not coaching from the get-go...

In my view solicitors on both sides would not be doing their job properly if they were not "coaching" their clients on how to respond. Coaching can only take you so far though,  It was clear from the IPs testimony that she is a highly articulate, intelligent girl (I think she is a medical student?) and that will resonate with the jury. The defendants not so much.

Great draw for United. City play them the weekend in between so expect a second string team for that game
Fcuk United who cares.  More importantly Liverpool have Everton away in the middle of the two legs which isn't ideal.

2nd place still up for grabs in the league as far as I am concerned. Think Utd have City/Chelsea and Arsenal still to play while Liverpool only have Chelsea from the top 6. Cue a Liverpool collapse against Watfoed, Burnley et al and drop into 5th.....

This should probably go in the WTF? thread.
Like actually WTF??  :-\

Read that earlier. Unreal how something like that could make it to production without someone copping on to the potential implications

But how does a boring team have a better goal difference and sit two places above? Strange season for the also rans

just curious, are you saying that you think Liverpool and United have been equally entertaining this year?

United tend to win their games against the "lesser teams" by holding onto leads better than Liverpool. And they have one of the worlds best goalkeepers behind a better defense. Does that make them a better team, possibly, the league table does nt lie (in May) Does nt make them good to watch though.

And yet another way ... to me, Klopp should be judged solely on the league and CL.

I don't really give a shit if he wins the FA Cup or LC.

But that's just me.

So if Klopp was boring and teams won league or champions league you'd be happy? Contradiction there also, and by same token should he not win either show him the door?
The fans would want more; the owners and Board would be delighted. As somebody said above not many teams can manage both; City at the minute in England and United when Fergie was the gaffer in recent times were able to nail it.

Its the PL I want to see. CL would be great obviously but I would be willing to put up with one year of Mourinho style football to win the league. But this season, if it were a choice between playing the type off football we have, finish fourth and win nothing or play the type of football Utd have played, finish 2nd and win an FA Cup, I honestly think I prefer the Liverpool outcome. Yes you might have to listen to  people like that StGalls moron (where is he by the way?? Hope nothing happened him??) but at least when I sit down to watch a Liverpool game i look forward to it. The dross that Mourhino has served up all year, (with few exceptions) you might as well just check the league tables on  Monday.

As much as I disliked Ferguson, you could nt help but have a grudging admiration for the way his teams played

Liverpool fans. I've asked a question on the United page, and I wonder what the reaction here is. Given Mourinho's dour approach, paranoid personality and general negative attitude, counter balanced with his record in big games, and his ability to win trophies. Would you swap our swashbuckling, all out entertainment but frustratingly naive defensively manager, who may win some trophies but probably not as many as Mourinho, for the United manager?

No.

I do not cast envious glances in the direction of United at all.
+1

I don't watch much of them to be honest and only turned on last night's game after me Dad texted me to say they were losing. The couple of times I have watched them though they have bored me to tears.
De Gea is the only player they have that I think would improve Liverpool if they had him. Other than him I can't think of a player they have that I'd like to see at Liverpool. Maybe Mata as I always liked him but not really anyone else

Bailly?

De Gea obviously, Bailly, Rashford, Matic would be definites for me. Not sure who else would really improve the starting team. A few borderline calls like at right back and the likes of Lukaku would help if Klopp decides to use Mourinho's Wimbledon c.1989 tactics.
