Former Antrim footballer Frankie Wilson has died at the age of 52 after a battle with cancer.

A brilliant bloke on and off the pitch, he packed so much into his life.. RIP Frankie
Was reading Twitter messages last night and he seems to have played for and coached a serious number of clubs and schools across GAA and soccer. He didn't half pack it all in.

I know Frank through his brother and sister, so knew about his sports involvement, but didn't appreciate how widespread it was. Wouldn't it be brilliant if we all had even a fraction of the impact he had on young people in sport.

Old enough to remember it at the time (even though I was 5). Very little football on TV at time, so in my memory. Hugely shocking result in a game played on a ploughed field.

It's bizarre that Tony Holohan was awarded the freedom of Dublin in 2021. It shows people's remarkable ability to whitewash certain unpleasant events.

When you think you're fucked you're only about 40% fucked.

Harold Disgracey

Historian Dr Éamon Phoenix, aged 69 following a short illness. I very much enjoyed his daily column in the Irish News.
