Was it not possible to deflate it?
He's going to have it rebuilt as it's insured.
No chance of the CC delegates telling him to cop on I suppose...

I would have thought that this could have been deflated, given that the event was expected.
If I was an insurance company then I would have insisted that it was secured in the event of a red warning.

Would love the gas if they are going to call games off to have the foresight to make an early announcement .

Why would they call the games off?

Might I suggest you look outside.

Isn't tomorrow meant to be ok?

The weather tomorrow will be OK, and the games will be too provided that the roof of the stand hasn't blown on to the pitch and that the floodlights have a power supply.

Across the island there are probably next to 1m without power and it will be a long time before the last of those gets the power back. They have already mobilised the French crews to come as soon as things settle down, and perhaps they can get some help from southern Britain, Scotland will be just as bad.

Quote from: AustinPowers on January 23, 2025, 10:42:07 AMSo  what's the solution?

Another election?

No, a deal has been done. The independent group involved in government won't be recognised as technical group today, so won't have opposition speaking rights.

That should allow the election of MM as Taoiseach, and new government to follow.
Ceann Comhairle still to make final decision re how the independents will be treated.

Regardless of rights and wrongs, and I think everyone agrees the independents can't have it every way, the scenes in the Dáil yesterday were pathetic.

In what other profession would that sort of shouting and roaring be tolerated? They should all be embarrassed at themselves.
Daily reform needed as to how disagreements can be handled. Anyone roaring and ignoring CC should be immediately ejected from the chamber, and I think should be banned for X number of sitting days.
I'm loving the deflection.  Look over there! FFS.

Every political commentator has called this out for what it was. An anti-democratic stunt by Martin, Harris and their quisling Lowry. They tried to force this through by arrogance.  But they were found out.

This was their making and they knew it was going to happen. It was flagged 2 weeks ago. That's the whole point of this. They left Murphy in a fix. Washed their hands off her and then had their faux outrage last night. It was embarrassing alright...for Martin and Harris.

Let's hope, for everyone's sake, Martin and Harris drop their arrogance and show a bit more humility going forward.

Martin and Harris might be the government, but they do not directly control the operation of Dáil Éireann. This arrangement suits the independents and the FF/FG backbenchers.

Storm now tracking north-east, which is why the 6 counties are now red. Wexford should escape the worst of this.

Why do both Met Eireann and UTV do this?

It looks stupid.

Because met eireann and the met Office cover different jurisdictions

So their satellite coverage or whoever provides it has a Northen Ireland border implanted in it?

It's a conscious decision to do this for no apparent reason that would make sense.

I know plenty of farmers and builders who use Met Eireann for their weather outlook.

The respective met office issue a coverage of the warnings and these stop at the border.
What will anyone do about it? At least met.ie have the NI stuff mentioned on their site, if not on their maps.

Things like weather and railways should All Ireland bodies, it is time that there is some progress on this type of practical matter, the wind does not change at the border.

Oil prices went up since December and the dollar also went up, so fuel here went up. Now oil is declining somewhat and the dollar has fallen back a bit, so that help..

Quote from: JoG2 on January 22, 2025, 08:54:22 AMIs Donegal's record in Ballyshannon similar to MacCumhaill Park?

Just checked, Donegal are playing all their home games in MacCumhaill Park except the Derry game which is in Ballyshannon...mon Jim, you're over thinking this

There may be an expectation of moving some league games to other grounds, although neighbours Derry are not noted for a big support or the need to accommodate thousands of season ticket holders.

Quote from: JoG2 on January 21, 2025, 09:40:17 PMGalway v Armagh - Galway - Galway at home will take the 2 points in a close enough game. Armagh to go down with Donegal

Tyrone v Derry - DRAW - we're shy a half back line, Tyrone shy a few forwards, though there's Dazzler, McElholm, Bradley, M Donnelly so they will still be v dangerous. Will be very interesting to see the Derry starting and finishing 15 on Sat evening

Dublin v Mayo  - Dublin- Dublin by a couple in a tight game

Kerry v Donegal - Kerry - highly doubt the Clifford will be rested this year. Donegal are being way over blown, McGuinness or no McGuinness, they do well to avoid relegation and get out of the 1/4s

Was listening to OTB and James O'Donoghue says the Cliffords aren't back yet, could be cute hoorism though. The Stacks and Crokes lads aren't going to feature either he says. So who knows. Think Donegal are ahead of Tyrone and Derry in terms of avoiding the drop.

Donegal are hard to beat at home, and that gives a platform for not getting relegated.
Armagh have 4 games at home, likewise a platform for not getting relegated.
