Quote from: yellowcard on January 31, 2024, 12:45:46 PMBryson after bugging and reporting publicly on a DUP meeting the other night now wants Donaldson to debate him on the contents of the deal. You couldn't make it up.
Can't understand how he hasn't been slapped down for that stunt.

Donaldson came across as reasonable and pragmatic during that press conference.  Bryson cited Wilson, Dodds and Lockhart as the main opponents.  If he manages to face them down and maintain control, it will be impressive,  and more than I'd have given him credit for.  The hardliners will undoubtedly be spitting fire at this soft-edge DUP, but just going on tonight,  Stormont might just be workable.
Jamie's thumbs will be knackered between tonight and the next few days digesting this.

Quote from: Substandard on January 30, 2024, 12:23:27 AMMad stuff.
Surely the BBC can't platform Bryson again after that escapade, or even Allister for cheerleading it.
The fall-out of this will be very interesting.  A weakened DUP, and a few inevitable defections to TUV.  If the primary objection was a Nationalist First Minister, then they not only shot themselves in the foot, they danced on a nail, jumped on a landmine, then amputated the foot and threw it in a barrel of acid.

How do they intend  to march  this year  after all that?

I don't think  they've thought this through

Tis the nature of things- never ones to toe the line, and someone else will foot the bill!!

I'd imagine Jamie is going to be made pay for this, however.  It's one thing to be shouting from the sidelines when all it gets is a little limelight, but this will have consequences and repercussions, and there will be a push back.

Can't grudge that to Glen, but a sore one to let slip from a Ros perspective.  Thought beforehand that Glen would overpower Brigids from the start and squeeze the life out of the game a long way out, so fair play Brigids for going at it from the start.
Glass is class, always in the right place at the right time either attacking or defending, definitely the game breaker today.
Fair play to the Derrymen, as they said themselves,  some journey.  Hopefully another time for Brigids, but Pearses, Boyle and possibly one or two more won't make Roscommon easy for them this year.

I'd vote for a lot of the ones mentioned.
I despise Happy.
Probably an unpopular notion, but I loathe anything Christy Moore.
And the worst of the worst, ever, and probably never to be out-worsted, Des'ree's Life.

How about.....

R.E.M.
Perfect Circle,  E-bow the letter, Good Advices.
That could change umpteen times week by week, there are an awful lot of contenders.
Perfect Circle is untouchable,  though.

Still 2023 weather anyway.
Happy New Year to all.  Thanks for keeping a relative ignoramus informed (sometimes confused/ confounded!!) about goings on at home and abroad.
Thanks again, and all the best.

All a bit flakey.

How can they mesaure this?

Did something broadly similar for our Juniors last year.
Quite easy to implement and monitor.
Although we couldn't field for a number of games, it definitely set a marker for how serious we were.
Leaving out the 'without management approval' next year, though.
Head would be wrecked with whatsapps 20 minutes before matches with lads asking to go travelling or to family weddings or to the vet with shitey-arse excuses.
We're going all out next year...

The Donaghadee melt down is great reading :)
He's now deflecting on this story after complaining that the Irish News were deflecting from the Up the Ra chants story on Nolan on Monday. I'd say Jamie has opened a can of worms. Theres plenty of skeletons in his closet

Interesting few weeks ahead, depending on how this story evolves.  Mr Bryson could come under pretty intense scrutiny- running with the hare and hunting with the hounds could see all kinds of disclosures.
I was resigned to at least a fortnight on FĂ©ile.  The gap between tweets is a long time in Jamie's politics

Teachers really bore me.
Doubt if any could survive a second in the real world; I've had enough of them as a parent to turn me for good.
Out of curiosity,  what is this real world you speak of?  I'm starting to question my vocation as I thought I was in the real world too.

One where there is accountability; where incompetence is challenged and dealt with, rather than moved elsewhere.

Your username is strangely appropriate.

Teachers should be forced to move schools every 5-8 years.
I have often thought about that myself, but I'd imagine there would be complications, changing part way through a course, and so on.

Indeed, we must have gone through a similar process when settling on a username.  This incompetence,  is it universal?  I do try not to be incompetent.  Any tips would be appreciated,  or perhaps a checklist of sorts.  Some in the profession might get precious about such things, but anything  that would contribute to enhancing the environment for students and parents could only be a good thing.
