Quote from: LC on February 15, 2024, 06:07:27 PMIts gonna take a few £million just to clear the site.

I wonder how Stormont dodged the procurement rules on this.

Obviously some contractor is being handed a blank cheque and no doubt will fill their boots.

And: you know this:- or you are just saying?

Just saying.

Yes in private sector you can mobilise a contractor fairly quickly as it is your own money ultimately.  Different ball game when it comes to public sector with the need for transparency and what not.

For all you know there could be a couple of government departments who need to shift capital money before the end of the year so this could be a win win for them.

Procurement law went out the window when Covid came, cant see Casement as being as critical though.

That's to assume it's being take forward by a government department. If Ulster GAA were funding the initial works themselves they'd be able to move things on fairly quickly. They've committed £15m to the project. That can be spent any time.

Quote from: ClubScene13 on February 07, 2024, 11:16:50 AMHow heavy are Omagh CBS favoured on Sunday? Are they just edging it or are they expected to win by 4 or 5+?

It's a long time from the Academy made any noise at MacRory, only getting badly beaten in the 2015 final since the great generation from 2008-2011

Was just thinking about the 2015 final earlier. Academy team had Michael McKernan, Brian Kennedy, Conn Kilpatrick, Ciaran Higgins (Armagh) and a number of former county panelists Liam Rafferty, Daniel Kerr, Ryan Coleman and beat a decent Maghera team in the semi final in Ballinderry but didn't turn up for the final.

Omagh probably deserving favourites and have players that have been there and done it. Might be a year early for Dungannon but you never know. This year's Rannafast team would be fancied to make an impression over next two years.

Quote from: brokencrossbar1 on November 12, 2023, 11:54:06 AMLittle to say about the game. Too hard to rationalise so I won't. This hurts.

Well done to Trillick, best team over the hour.  Got the match ups right and McGennitys old style methods seem to be paying dividends. They will make it difficult for whoever is in the semi (likely Kilcoo) and they won't be too far off but still think they will come up slightly short.

On a PS well done to our junior Camogs who won the Ulster championship yesterday. Many clubs would kill for what we win year on year as a club. We just have to get the head down for now and see what next year brings.
Strong Cross team is good for Armagh football. I'll always wish them and any other county title winners the best in Ulster and beyond. On paper Cross have as good or better players than any team in Ulster, certainly far better than Trillick but for whatever reason its just not happening.

I think you're seriously under-estimating Trillick's players there. At a quick glance around 9-10 will have played on successful county teams for Tyrone at either minor, U20 or senior. Certainly won't have any fear of anyone left in Ulster

LD were poor Jordan and McKeown aside but thought Darren gave Dunloy the benefit of the doubt on some big decisions. Have no idea where he found 8 minutes of injury time. Seemed to play on until he got Dunloy an equaliser. Murray looked to have a goal in the first half extra time kicked out of the net it was so far over the line and the 45 to bring Dunloy level in the second half of extra time didn't look like a 45. Couldn't see where Finucane got a touch.

Dunloy certainly looked the fitter side. Lamh Dhearg missing Lynch and Mervyn badly - they were very open in the middle of the defence.

The referee in this case refereed on behalf of Ballinderry; has he changed clubs or was there a conscious decision by Tyrone county board to get an "outside" referee for championship games?

He's been refereeing in Tyrone for a few years now as a Clonoe referee

Tyrone / Re: Tyrone County Football and Hurling

Strangely might have an easier game as third seed than second. Away to Kildare, Cork or Donegal as opposed to home to Mayo, Roscommon or Monaghan.

It's not the fellas that join after 5th year that leave the sour taste. Player playing today for HTC who'd completed his 7 years in the Academy...

Why was the late EC goal disallowed?  Seems like they were screwed between that and the first goal.
Square ball? Although I've no idea what the correct rule for that is these days.

Yeah player in square before pass made.

I didnt think he was. There was a player in the square before the pass, but not the goalscorer.

Think its still square ball, player in the square before ball played regardless of who scores

I wasn't sure the ball left the small square after it came back of the crossbar which if that was the case it couldn't have been square ball. Highlights weren't conclusive - would need to see again.

Regardless Errigal were far too open defensively to have any complaints about the result. They'll be a better side for the experience.  But if the Tyrone championship is anything to go by they'll not be back in Ulster for a couple of years!
