No VAT on Insurance no matter who or where you get it. Although I have come across people who claim VAT back on any payment they make, even donations  ???

Could start a new section on the board with stories about dodgy dealers...but my favourite has to be the client who was claiming back VAT on his VAT payment! Cowboys Ted!

thats unreal  :D :D good laugh. had another client say his sit-on lawnmower was 100% business use for Capital allowance purposes- his business is renting of student housing in Belfast where the lawn is one meter by 2 meters lol

Know of a GAA club that put the drainage of their pitches etc through their bar costs.

(For VAT purposes the bar is a seperate trading entity as a GAA Club in itself cannot be VAT registered)

They got rogered by Revenue.

Claiming VAT on the VAT payments is a new one on me  :D

Some crackers.

We'd have one wee Multi-tasking jobsworth with several little trades on the go. He does his own VAT returns and when we do his year end accounts its always a minefield going through his VAT returns.

He has cliamed VAT on donations, cars, clothes, anything goes.

He even claimed the family holiday to Italy one year. Claimed that he was taking pictures for his wedding album business. First we heard of it!!
