General discussion / Passport question
May 26, 2016, 11:19:16 PM
I'm filling on my passport renewal form and there's a space for a PPSN. I live the north so only have a National Insurance Number. I can't remember what I put down the last time - it was 10 years ago! Not sure what and can't get through on the phone to the passport office.

Anyone know how to watch championship matches online? RTE site doesn't seem to be working.

Don't see this levy mentioned anywhere but may have missed it

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-foyle-west-19645927

Personally I don't like this, ok it is expensive to run a county team but it is also expensive to follow one, and I don't think it is right that when the ball is at the County Boards foot  :P they take advantage by increasing the price of the ticket.
Although the money is going to upkeep of team, is there much difference from the tout making money on ticket?
And those supporters buying outside the County will not be paying this levy

Down County Board did this two years ago, suppose you can't blame them on trying to make a bit of money off the back of it. There were a few grumbles at the time, but they still sold all their tickets, so clearly most people weren't bothered.

Statement from Fermanagh board

QuoteFermanagh GAA County Committee, County Senior Football Management Team and players are shocked and saddened to learn of the sudden death of our County Senior player and teammate Brian Og Maguire due to an accident at his work.
We extend our sympathy to Brian Og's parents Brian and Eileen, sisters Roisin and Eimear, his entire family circle and the members of his Club Lisnaskea Emmetts at this most difficult time.
Our thoughts and prayers are with them at this sad time.

I actually think McConnon and Brian Canavan that do the Radio Ulster commentary are very good.  Why cant BBC NI just give viewers a red button option for alternative commentary and then the choice of listening to the Radio Ulster commentary on the TV.

Are you serious? I think McConnon is atrocious. For a radio commentator, he commentates assuming that the listener can actually see what's happening. I flicked between the Radio Ulster and RTE Radio commentary today and it was a world of difference. RTE was quick, crisp, described exactly what was happening on the pitch. McConnon very often talks in ambigious terms, ie "It's a long ball up the field and it's caught, etc." Also, his instinct is always to react to an incident "Oh, that was great, fantastic..." before actually telling the listener what has happened. Very often, it's left to Brian Canavan to fill in the details of an incident. Canavan is a good co-commentator, but McConnon is poor for radio, rarely gives score or time updates, even when a team has just scored.

I'm heading down to a christening in Co Clare in a couple of weeks with the family (wife and two young kids).
Anyone know of any good B&Bs or hotels in the area. Looking for somewhere cheap, but decent enough to bring the kids. The christening is in Clonlara, so pretty close to Limerick city.

I'm not interested in getting an eternal debate here, but could any history buffs recommend a good book on 20th century Irish history?

Quote'Jack O'Connor lambasts Nordieball'

Quote"I'm not disrespecting the football that any other crowd are playing."

Quote"I'm not castigating. It's up to any other manager to do what he wants."

I'd hardly call that lambasting.

3pm throw-in. Will suit some, but not others who have to work on Saturday - should still be a decent crowd and lets hope we can get the momentum going.
The guts of two weeks to get things right after the Clare match and get a few back from injury. Laverty can't have done his chances any harm, but still don't see him starting when all other forwards are fit.

Is it time to bring Dan back into midfield? If it meant putting McKernan in at FB, I wouldn't like to see it, but I think we need to change it at midfield, especially if Ambrose is still struggling for fitness.

Personally think that ignoring is the best option

Agreed. My first reaction to this was that it was just very sad and pathetic.
For someone to go out of their way just to wind people up paints a pretty sorry story.
Maybe he should just do what the majority of people who aren't interested in Gaelic games do and just simply ignore them.
