Quote from: Tony Baloney on November 29, 2024, 10:35:57 AMIt's a soap with a big budget and great locations. I found it really enjoyable - drags a wee bit in later seasons and there are some silly storylines but I've stuck with it up to the latest episode this week.

Yeah me too - though this season has gone really silly I think.

We're nearly there with it now, finale this weekend. The standard has dropped off a bit and there seems to be a lot getting wrapped now up in a short season. Taylor Sherdian then decides to spend half an episode showing off his horse riding skills and going taps aff in the latest episode.

1923 series 2 out in April 2025 - interested to see how they wrap that up

I've heard good reports about Landman - anyone watching it?
When you're the boss you can be self-indulgent!

Aye Landman is decent. Easy watching.

Milltown Row2

The woman MI6 girl in The Jackal is annoying the f**k out of me, I hope she gets a bullet in the mouth.

But I'm enjoying it  ;D
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought. Ea

Could not agree more!
Noticed at the weekend, that she's the same actress that starred in the Matilda remake as the teacher Miss Honey.

It's ok. Yellowstone set in an oil field with a bit of Dallas thrown in.

Liked the first episode, does it get better?

Day of the Jackal is a great show so far. Not buying the notion that Loyalist paramilitaries could make the world's most technically advanced gun that can shoot 2 and a half mile though!

Would do your head in, as bad as she is, the Jackal himself is 10 x worse... I'll see it out but I started out enjoying it, not so much now.

Landman v good. Jury Duty excellent.

gallsman

Jury Duty is terrific. He's just so likeable. James Marsden is absolutely superb at playing James Marsden  ;D

Yeah not sure on the Jackal myself - Redmayne is a very wooden actor imo.
But will stick it out too. I get the feeling it will be a flat type of ending.

Landman is ok. A bit meh, if you ask me so far.

Jury Duty I haven't watched, I must take a look.

Anyone watched Silo? Season 2 out at the minute, not bad.
Lioness is ok too, if a bit hoo-rah gung-ho american.

Redmayne is not the most convincing of hitmen. Like Yellowstone, this one started out decent but the last episode or two are off the boil.

Sherdian knew Yellowstone was finished without Costner but Season 5 part 2 just seems to be a case of how quickly can we wrap this up. I'm all in at this stage so only one more to go to see it out. I don't have much hope for it so the bar is low.

gallsman

I'm up to a point in Yellowstone where I just had to start laughing. Jimmy needs some money, so out of nowhere Sheridan and his family, serving no plot whatsoever, are at the ranch and riding horses on screen for about 10 mins. Then when they're done, back to the (very) thin plot.

With Jamie, I can't work out if the character or the actor is worse.

thewobbler

Jamie is one of the worst pieces of casting in the history of anything ever.

Okay it doesn't help that his character  mutates (even within one scene) between "smartest, calmest guy in the state, takes no prisoners" and "bumbling, sobbing mess who everyone trods on".

But rarely have I seen an actor play any part of a role with less distinction.

I think he's one of the worst characters in the show. He just seems to be used to steer the plot in a certain way. Some of his arcs are just awful and make no sense at all.
