XBox or Playstation for the young lad for Christmas?

What's the major differences?

What sort of money for a good set up? Controllers and head set required also.
Get him what his mates have. You can have cross platform games but not sure how widespread they are.

Quote from: armaghniac on December 05, 2024, 10:34:25 PMPost GFA there can be UI, but the spirit of that agreement is that this will come when when people in NI want it. People in the 6 counties have to put their hand up and say that they want in. But we don't get that, what we get is so called nationalists and republicans saying that they have nothing in common with the rest of country and that the 26county voters are stupid uncaring people. It seems widely believed in the 6 counties that Dublin should spend more money there, but propose any revenue raising measure and there isn't much interest in self help. SF are more interested that they be in power than any UI where they are not in power. Now the main issue with a UI is economics, but SF have no interest in economics or at least the earning side of it, they have some interest in the spending side. Without some mature leadership in the 6 counties things will indeed remain as they are.
Good post.

Quote from: maggie on December 03, 2024, 02:53:49 PMAs ever on the last legs trying to get something sorted for a present. Anyone know where I could get 6 nation ticket and an overnight stay package or even just a ticketfor a match? Tried Skelton Travel Lurgan but they only do football ones.

Thanks.

Your best bet is the Italy game in March. Make a nice weekend in Rome out of it - you will be able to pick up tickets for it no bother. I would recommend booking own travel and accommodation - don't use a packaged deal.

You will struggle to get tickets for any of the other games - and will end up paying a complete fortune for them. You could get flights, accomadation and tickets to the Italy game fpr the same price as just tickets for the others.

Who are you booking flights to Rome with for the rugby that isn't exorbitant or takes you on a 24 hr magical mystery tour?
Chatting to a fella last week who was looking at home tickets for the France match but they were E800 on a resale site. Scrapped that and found tickets for Italy v Rome for under E50. Flights however were over E500 so he was away to look at flights to Pisa and train to Rome. No cheap options.

Indeed. I have read people say it legitimises future Trump pardons, however the same fella doesn't need a reason or an excuse. The 6th Jan "patriots" will be out.

Quote from: Puckoon on December 01, 2024, 10:40:29 PMWe always had a great open house after morning Mass for the neighbours in the park. We were allowed open Santa Claus before mass, one present from under the tree after mass - but everything else had to wait until after dinner (about 4 or 5pm). Was torture but looking back now it was a nice stretch of the day.

In later years I loved being allowed to stay up with Dad to set up Santa for the younger brother and sister.

I do remember Santa forgetting batteries one year and on the drive home from Mass, Mammy lambasting the shite out of Santa for being a silly auld ballix that couldn't do one simple thing like remembering the batteries. Was a decade or so later that I laughed my ass off at that as poor Santa was driving the car.
;D a lot of pressure on oul Santa! Having all boys I was saved from building dolls houses!

We also do the 1 present on Christmas Eve and have done since I was a wain. The children are big now and the number of presents is way down so maybe it's a dying tradition in our house!

Quote from: AustinPowers on December 01, 2024, 09:31:44 PMWhere do we all stand  on  having Christmas crackers at  the dinner table?

And more importantly, do  ye wear the paper hats?

I always do, even  if I'm the  only one wearing one. What's  the point in having them otherwise?
Mandatory. I have a large head and I'm from a long line of large headed people, so more often than not they're ripped. Still maintain that competitive edge with the crackers and sneak a grip of the "barrel". Usually a row over it.

Quote from: Milltown Row2 on December 01, 2024, 11:52:40 AMWould there have been plenty of young lads that traditionally left, migrated and now have stayed because covid has limited travel for a period and a better economy means that they can stay and earn as much here than elsewhere?

He's on about the U20s. There is a male surplus at 20 year old grouping because of the influx of migrants and asylum seekers who are predominantly male.
The Exchequer rubbing their hands in the next few years when all these lads are out working and paying taxes.

Christmas Eve takes much less time now the children are bigger as there is no building of toys and much less inserting of batteries. Sort of miss it a bit having a few drinks whilst building f**king toys til about 2am

Union has become an exceptionally attritional game, with victory determined mostly by who makes the fewest mistakes, rather than through skill.

Sport when it's executed perfectly is boring.

It happened to Snooker (Davis and later Hendry influence on safety play), Tennis (power serve), Soccer in the '90's (with the long ball and the back pass), Cycling/Athletics (Doping). Athletes/Coaches/Analysts will always look at a way to gain an edge. They will think of something that won't often be entertaining to watch, but effective to gain advantage.
True at points in time but I think tennis, certainly serve/volley at Wimbledon has now passed that era. An issue with snooker now isn't safety play but the fact that so many players are now so good that it only takes one miss for a player to be in their seat for the frame.

People who slag off rugby as overly attritional are obviously only watching certain games. There are fantastic games weekly in URC, Gallagher Premiership etc.
