The fecking season only finished 2 weeks ago.
Take a break.
If you want a break, stay off the board!
Clubs seeking new management can't be hanging about and will be very active at this stage.
Sorry I should've said get a life.  ;D

Watched Dublin, Tyrone, Armagh and Derry SFC finals over the last week. Far stretch from our final which lauded maybe 10 county stars, a final which was as dismal a display as I've seen. No risk, no adventure. Compared to these other counties (all competing at higher end of county game) and it's worrying for next year.

Tend to agree but all those finals were between teams closely matched. We have a team at the moment who are clearly above the rest which also contributes to the poor spectacle

Irish News saying Hugh Pat McGeary will be playing county football for Down next season.

How has he been performing in club football since his switch?

Not very often you hear males singing Amhran na bhFaiann, this fella from East Belfast GAA fairly belts it out, and some round of applause as well. Class

I think he stood out a good bit playing full back for Rostrevor this year in the games i saw him in.

Had a good start and a good end to the season. Was played in every line/position throughout the season which maybe didn't help his cause. Definitely performed best from full back in the Championship.

Quote from: Gaelforce123 on October 15, 2024, 09:50:04 PMCorrect Supersub, 100% agree.

However, In my opinion, he is not a strong enough referee for a county final. I did think he was poor and I have no links to either club. I dont believe every referee deserves a county final etc. Some are not strong enough for it. In my opinion if the same referee has to do it a few times then thats how it has got to be but it must be a strong ref that doesn't be influenced and makes own decision and is a strong character. Not easy find but I do give mentions to

Brendan Rice
Colm Gribben
Paul Faloon
Kevin McGrath
Darren Ohare
Ciaran Branagan

As the only referees in the county I see fit for finals. Yes they all have faults and may make mistakes as they are human but I don't believe anyone outside this list are strong enough characters for big games.

In this case though the ref was not the issue and Burren have only got themselves to blame

There's a couple in here shouldn't be and a couple that should be. But that's the beauty of the GAA, there's a uniqueness with our game and always a debate on every game. I regularly go to games and disagree with my close friends on decisions, for and against our club.

Hugh Pat joining up might allow Ryan McEvoy to play further out the field, a MF partner for Murdock is badly needed imo.

Any other players called into the panel?

ardtole

The new tap and go rule will suit McEvoy, when he breaks free he can cover a lot of ground very quickly.

terrifictommy

Maybe I don't have the right info, but a player coming to the twilight, played for his native county mainly as a sub - And we think he's going to be our full back? He didn't stand out in the semi final against a pacy CNB attack. We've struggled for a FB for a good few years now, maybe since Dan?

Tap and Go is only going to be effective if the play continues to move forward. My guess is the foul will slow it down and the tap and go will end up going to where the free would have anyway. If the 3 players in attack was in force, it might be worth the change.
