Once again the gaaboard comes through when all else fails. No plumber or plumber's supplier had a clue what I was on about until mournerambler told me exactly what I needed and where to look for it - got it sorted after that.

I have a pressurised water system. The pressure was constantly dropping to 0 and I was having to top it up with pressure often. Last night myself and another fella went around the house to check for a leak.  Found it in the burner outside the house so happy enough with that result. However he turned the pressure relief value in the cylinder- it's a Warmflow cylinder- and now it won't stop dumping water. Been running all night. How do I stop this? Is it just a matter of turning off the water coming into the house and waiting?

Any advice would be welcomed.

I have a pressurised system and would regulary have to top up the pressure aswell. I was told when I got it in taht it should only need doing once or twice a year. But I'm finding myself doing it every 3-4 weeks. Is this normal or should I be looking for a leak aswell?

I done a good bit of reading up on it in recent weeks and apparently you should never really have to top up your system. Finding leaks is hard. We found mine out in the burner, the opposite side of the side that it opens. The thing was the drop in pressure was knocking off my burner whereby I would have to go out and manually reset it.

An old thread to bring up but hopefully the right one and maybe someone can help. Thanks in advance.

Have an oil boiler that supplies both domestic hot water and heating via underfloor. Also have a solar system for the DHW. Both the DHW from boiler and solar go into the one tank, a really good but aging Sonnenkraft. Everything thankfully in basement/garage, as we came home on Friday night to find the place flooded and have had the water off since then. After a bit of investigation, was determined that the leak was coming from the expansion vessel on the pipe from the boiler to the hot water tank. Boiler turned off as well and we're only turning water back on for a few minutes here and there to fill cisterns and pots. Chanced my arm with the dishwasher today and there was a significant leak from the same source almost immediately.

Presumed originally it was a problem with the expansion vessel itself, but heating engineer, who we've had a good few times before, reckons what happens is that the heating coil in the tank has gone bang. The DHW in the tank is then back flowing through the coil and filling the expansion vessel, which is then leaking  To avoid the cost of replacing the tank entirely, he's proposing to disconnect the DHW from the boiler and replace it with an electric heater that would work in series with the solar, which is still connected to the tank.

Appreciate it's going to be really difficult to assess, but any experts or anyone knowledgeable think this sounds plausible/reasonable?
