GAA Discussion / Re: Meath vs Limerick

Yep, Coyles gone, its on RTE. I wonder will Fay, Geraghty, Crawford, Moyles and a few others call it a day. I wouldnt want any of them to leave I think they still have something to offer. I wouldnt mind Sean Boylan returning. But perhaps looking outside the county would be worthwhile

Well where do you start.

I suppose embarrassing is the word I'd use. But Limerick knew how to beat us. They crowded the mid-field and played an extra man in front of our forward line, which worked  perfectly. even though our forwards weren't able to get in front of their own men and couldn't beat them in the air. I don't want to sound like a Monday morning quarterback but Joe Sheridan should have came on in the 1st half. Putting in a ball on top of him worked with his knack for 1 hand catches. But the game was up at that stage.

I wouldn't be surprised if Fay & Geraghty called it a day, they don't deserve to be involved in muck like that. From the off Meath players looked lethargic and slow. Very weak tackling, the Limerick players ran through them like they weren't there. Our players weren't challenging for the breaks in the middle. We didn't look fired up or even like we wanted to be there.

There was a bit of luck involved in 2 of the Limerick goals but you make your own luck and they deserved their lead and the win.

I cant see Coyle having the job next year. Meath were out-thought on the line and out-fought on the field. It was a complete shambles that may have serious repercussions in the psyche of Meath football, a very damaging result.

Thank God we have our minors. There is talent in this Meath team but what can make us a competitive team I dont know. Luke Dempsey is not the man, he is not a proven winner. I dont think we would achieve anything under him.

Tadhg Brosnan got a few runs when Eamon Barry was in charge but didnt feature after the League if my memory serves me correctly.

Thats not a bad line-up, a few surprises. You can only imagine the problems Coyle had trying to pick the team, theres a fair bit of talent in the squad now. I was going to make that point about the 3 man MF. We should dominate in the air but we really are telegraphing our intentions. its good that can call  Geraghty from the bench, same with Joe, Damian Sheridan and Shane O'Rourke.

Having seen both Meath games this year, i reckon they are better than most ppl think. I think they will take Limerick by 6 or 7 pts & go on to AI semi at least. That 1st game v Carlow they got thru a sticky 1st 15 mins & won by 20 pts in the end!
Wex game were so in control it was crazy...but that 2nd half collapse also included a perfect Meath disallowed goal which wud have put Meath 12 pts ahead at the time.
Ok what happened after was crazy, no excuse to lose such a lead. As a neutral that prob has to go down as my fave game of all time. It was mad, had everything & more! Best €15 i ever spent!!

you going to Limerick then, it'd be a shame to miss a game then, I have jersey for ya!  ;)

QuoteCroker issues time warning to fans
15 July 2008

Croke Park Stadium Director Peter McKenna has warned fans that this Sunday's Leinster SFC final between Wexford and Dublin at headquarters will be pushed to start on time, at 4.00pm, regardless of late-coming fans to the game.

Dublin's last outing in the Championship against Westmeath saw a 15-minute delay in the match's throw-in time in order to accommodate fans arriving late to the game.
However McKenna has insisted that this will not be the case on Sunday, and that the only way the provincial decider will be delayed is if there are issues at the turnstiles in Croke Park on the day.

"We are working to have the throw-in on time," explained McKenna.

"We will only delay the game if there are issues at the turnstiles, not because people aren't in the ground.

"If we feel the situation outside the ground is containable we will go ahead," stressed McKenna."

Wexford take on Dublin in the Leinster SFC final this Sunday, July 20, with a throw-in time of 4.00pm scheduled at Croke Park.

No, midfield but I reckon he's big enough and can come into the middle on support. Seamus Kenny is another who could play there too. Its a tough choice.

Could be or the Vikings, They are contenders for the Superbowl and Im not sure if Tarvaris Jackson is ready. Having Brett there to step in and lead the way might be no harm. Also its his best chance of finsihing his career with a 2nd Super-bowl ring. But to be honest I think he should stay retired. I cant see him winning the big one really

I thought Scanlon got a good rap of the forearm in the face. He may have made a meal of it - would need another look - but he was entitled to go down alright.

It was sad alright, Scanlon going to ground like that, you'd swear he got a dig of Evander Holyfield. His play-acting was a worse offence than the tap he got off Murphy. You'd wonder is there any personal pride left in players these days.

If the GAA dont act on it, I dont know if I could keep watching gaelic
