GAA Discussion / Re: Mayo GAY
« on: December 02, 2022, 02:41:43 AM »
Stinks of marketing ploy to sell more Mayo jerseys to be cynical about the situation. Players could wear rainbow laces individually if they wanted to support LGB community in the GAA.

So you think Mindspace have asked for this so Mayo can sell more jerseys?! Jesus wept.

As others have said, I believe there is a need for this type of thing.

The stats would tell us that there are either a lower percentage of LGBT people playing GAA than the general population, or a lower percentage of GAA players being open about being LGBT. Either way suggests we have a way to go as  a society before people can be comfortable, and confident that they will be accepted.

On the jersey thing, I can see that the GAA do not want to allow this, as there are a host of other causes that could be worthy and where does it stop. The article suggests rainbow armbands or laces would likely be approved, and that seems like a good way forward

Andor is fantastic

Hadn't heard much about Andor. Does it work as a stand-alone, or how well would you need to know the entire back story?

Spent 6 nights in April this year, stayed in Hyatt Place, 39th St and 8th Ave, it was the best value we could find for a family room. Was an expensive week between flights and spending money, but everyone had a brill time.  Did The Edge, Central Park, Times Square, the High line walk, the Village, Staten Island, Sunset cruise around the bay, plus a good few bars and restaurants along the way, some city.

Staten Island?? ??? ;D

Yes, Staten Island ferry to head to the Empire Outlet stores, ferry was fine, stores weren't good.

The Circle Line is a great sightseeing tour, seeing the city from a different perspective, and not mad expensive iirc.

I get what people are saying with regard to rules. But it’s beyond completely f**king daft that intent should be used to evaluate handball as a foul, when intent is not a factor in any other type of foul.

The rule on handball would be so much easier to accept and interpret, if the subjective assessment centred on “did that handball gain his side an advantage that otherwise would not have existed?”, rather than “did he mean that? No, of course he didn’t mean it… soccer players don’t use their hands… so move onto the next criteria”.

I agree, tho in the competitive world of soccer you’d start to see forwards trying to gain an edge. Blasting the ball at defenders hands etc. it’s just one of the things where there’s no perfect solution as there’s too many variables.
I honestly don’t think it’s complicated at all. Ball hits tucked in arm or hand, then carry on.  Ball hits outstretched arm or hand, then judge whether an advantage was gained from this action.

In my experience, anyone who’s ever played ground ball gets one on the arm or hand every once in a while - and knows straight away whether their hand should or shouldn’t have been in that place.

this has been my stance forever. I have no idea why it can't be this simple

Stumbled across Inside the Crime podcast by Newstalk

Season 1 is about the Xmas morning murders in Windgap, Kilkenny.
Haven't listened to S2 yet, but it is about Charles Self.

Of course the first indoor pitch is worth a mention

World's population is now 8 billion, according to UN

India has increased by roughly 180 million people, and is set to surpass China as the world's most populous nation next year for the first time in almost 2,000 years.

Every fifth child born in the world in Chinese.

My brother has five children, so one of them must be Chinese. It could be Peter, or Niall, or Ying-Tong, or Stephen, or Sean. But I think it's Stephen.

Who coordinates the sequence?

Believe this is still a proposed development, but Westport GAA new pitch would be in a nice spot

The pitch in Bofeenaun, where Lahardane play has a nice backdrop

Ozzy Man Reviews

Australian comedian based in the city of Perth, Ozzy Man gives video voiceovers to topical videos. Perhaps best known for his videos covering Mexican model/weather presenter Yanet Garcia, American gymnast Katelyn Ohashi and his "Destination Fucked!" series. Good video example - it just has to be Ozzy Man Reviews: Yanet Garcia & Mexican Weather - perhaps best not to watch this with the wife/girlfriend!

Great idea for a thread. Also, I love that after a while on this board, you can guess who started the thread just by the title!
Ozzy man is pretty good. Like a lot of things, his earlier stuff was superb and maybe tailing off a little. It's kindof the same joke, but still enjoyable if you don't overdo it.

One of the few content creator channels I subscribe to is Emergency Awesome. Got watching while GoT was on. He posts review, explainer, easter egg videos from GoT, Marvel, Star Wars etc

Any more word on Conor McKenna's move back to Oz?

also keen to hear if anyone has the inside word on this.
Not a lot being reported here in Aus, rumours still circulating that a move to Geelong is on the cards.

All over.
Ireland win by Duckworth-Lewis score calc. England had been coming back into the game when it was ultimately ended.

No idea how DLS works (not sure anyone does), but at the same stage, Ireland had more runs and more wickets in hand (125/3 vs 105/5). MAybe batting second weights your score higher
Bit of a weird ending

At work, so not watching, only following updates.

Ireland screamed out of the blocks against England and were 100/1 after 12 before collapsing to 157 all out at 19.1 overs.
Ireland holding their own bowling-wise.

England currently 105/5 after 14.3 overs and rain has stopped play. If it doesn;t start in next 5 mins, Ireland win!

Meant to say, England had upped the pace from last couple overs, were only 5 short at the time of the delay
