GAA Discussion / Promoting ladies football
September 25, 2007, 05:43:03 PM
I have heard that the GAA is going to allow womens football in under its care as a means of promoting it.  Would the powers that be in Ladies football not see the potential in having an annual calendar to promote the girls game as well.  Theres bound to be a few lookers in the old ladies GAA.  Whay have just woman when you can have 12?

General discussion / The denationalisation of Irish Rugby
September 21, 2007, 01:02:29 PM
I have noticed an increase n the levels of criticsm aimed at the IRFU over the last 2 weeks with many equating the sides poor form and seemingly inevitable early exit,  as down to a lack of passion.  Many people are attributing this to a sanitisation of Irish symbolism namely our national anthem and flag being endemic of the problems. One view I heard was that the right to play under the national flag of ireland and to stand to the national anthem has been removed from this Irish team and their performances, moral and in the main their pride of playing for their country has been diminished. I heard another fellow descibing the removal of the Irish flag and anthems form our national teams as the last frontier of an 800 years anglicisation of Ireland programme and symbolic of an Irish nation that desires to be anglicised rather than gaelic.  What do you think?

GAA Discussion / Test your management skills
September 19, 2007, 02:38:00 PM
Right would be managers:
test no 1:
The scenario: You are 2 points up with 5 minutes to go in a very tense championship first round game contest  and the opposition no 6 strikes, Bang, off he goes straight red.
Background:  They are cup holders with a formidable attack and a 6 '5 full forward and oodlums of experience.  2 nippy corner forwards one who has been kept out of the game so far, but they are experienced.  You are managing a very inexperienced team who have been playing out of their shirts.
Quandary:
Rhythm of the game will be upset by the loss of the number 6 who has been their best player so far.  How do you choose to close it out with the extra man?

GAA Discussion / Mistakes that cost games:
November 15, 2006, 05:25:48 PM
Whilst not essentially a refereeing thread, this thread refers to single mistakes that cost games.  Refereiing examples include Paddy Russell all Ireland final 1995 and the recent Errigal ciaran V Enniskillen referee.  I could also include in that Joe Kernan V Mc Geeney in 2005 all Ireland semi final.  What I dont want is a series of non accurate blame games started bjust genuinely made mistakes that cost games week by week and its not intended as an abusive thread.
GAme by game if there was a mistake made.
Who made it?
